- Worldwide TravellerLondon, UK151 contributionsThis was a very unexpected positive surprise of our visit to Amersfoort.
We were expecting to spend a couple of hours at the most visiting this Park, however, it ended up being a full day experience.
First things first, it's located a few kilometres away from the city centre and from the highways surrounding the city. There's a parking onsite for which you must buy a token before returning to your car as it'll be needed to exit the parking lot. The cost is around 10 euros.
It's advisable to buy tickets online before arrival however the lines are not that big even though it was a busy day. I cannot remember if we even saved a euro or two by booking online, just check it out and maybe buy the tickets a couple of days in advance once you know you'll be going for sure.
You can get a complimentary map as soon as you enter, the layout is basically a circle with many things within (please take a look at the map which you can find amongst the pictures I've posted).
What makes this place special is not only the variety of the fauna available but the proximity to it. One does really get close up to our neighbours on this planet we call home. Children of all ages can examine them and see how they actually area in reality and become more comfortable with their presence.
There are also playgrounds for children to enjoy, it's easy to end up spending a couple of hours just at one of the playgrounds, really easy. There's also a train and a carrousel available at an extra charge (1 token per ride, 6 tokens cost 5 euros which you can get from a machine and pay by credit card).
There's also a section of the park with real size dinos that are pretty good and impressive, it's amazing to see how big they actually were. Incidentally, there are signs with basic facts about all the animals and a QR code for more info.
You'll also find many places to get food and drinks even though you can enter with your own.
A very nice surprise was the small and peaceful Japanese garden, it was a reminder of our stay in Japan a few years ago. This is a perfect place to relax and contemplate.
I'll end this review with a suggestion: try to leave by 5pm tops, otherwise, you'll be spending longer simply trying to get out.....and if you fancy a pannenkoken, there's a place 200 yards past the park which will get full by 17:30.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very nicely decorated, in many, but not all, areas very quite with architecture ranging from interesting to beautiful. Take your time for it as a lot of details can be found.
Also a good way to get a feel of the city.Written 25 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice views all around and a look to a nice Cafe „Bij Sophie“ which I recommend. Beware of cyclists going through it at high speed.Written 25 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Florian254Norddeutschland1 416 contributionsOn a sunny evening you need luck to get one of the places outside but enjoying the surroundings and the sun with a beer or two and some Bitterballen is a must do in Amersfoort.

Additionally, there was plenty of artworks from guest artists who had some kind of relation with Mondrian's works. If you visit in Amersfoort, this you have to see.Written 28 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Florian254Norddeutschland1 416 contributionsand well integrated in the landscape with a nice history behind it but that is about it. It will be one of your points to visit if xou visit the three ring brewery anyway.Written 25 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HansK774Boskoop, The Netherlands376 contributionsThere was a time man and woman were nursed separately and this one was for man only. Good times have gone (haha) but it is very interesting to see and so is the St Pieters Blokland Gasthuis nearby. Both have been restored and are worth your visitWritten 22 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GlenandTinaVancouver Island, Canada108 contributionsUnique smaller museum with local Amersfoort history including textile, auto and motorcycle and brewing history along with interesting local Dutch artists and world war II experience with Nazi occupation and Jewish internment. Very old 1400’s building with exposed timber construction evident. Worth an hour or two on your walk about.Written 25 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- andrei_petrescuAmsterdam, The Netherlands817 contributionsMust be on your list of places to see when in Amersfoort 🇳🇱. A wonderful little museum with lots of paintings and fascinating glass art. It was lovely to be able to interact with artists while they were physically in the building.Written 26 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
