Really nice street to walk down with historical building/palaces lining the street.

Of the via is many small laneways making the area full of little shops, cafe and bars.

Many of palaces are now museums and some are good to see.

Highly recommend going during day and night to see the contrast in atmosphere of area.

For 10 euros per adult this museum within the palace is great value for money. Many paintings on view mostly portraits, a few marble sculptures, rooms looking as if royal family were still living there. Rooms have information boards in English and Italian. My favourite was the throne room with all the gold. The city view from out on the terrace upstairs was special.

Enjoy walking around this area with all the history that surrounds you.

This is where you can explore many of the palaces you can get a variety of tickets and it’s very much worth going inside some of these places.

Love the architecture of the area, but must say some times did feel a little unsafe in some of the areas at night time, as my hotel close by came across some sketchy people.

Nice Via to walk down and see the great mixture of old and new with architectural design.

Gets very busy as it’s probably the main shopping area for Genoa. Lots of high end Shops and arcades to see and walk through.

Also many cafe and restaurants to dine in so really good at night time.

The church of San Matteo is well worth a visit. You'll find it in a sweet (and quiet) medieval square not far from the bustle of via S Lorenzo and Piazza de Ferrari. This was a Doria family chapel, and Andrea Doria's sword is on display. We did not get into the crypt where his tomb is (next time!). Be sure to go out the side door into the cloister, which still forms part of some locals' daily residential and working life.

This is a replica of a pirate ship that was built as part of a movie set. Some details are intricate but others seem shoddy. I hope they invest the admission into maintaining and repairing the structure. There was obvious damage to parts of the ship that should be repaired.

Found this when researching things to do in Genoa as visiting on a cruise so only had a day and like to do different things .
When I found out about it, it appealed for being quirky. Even better, it is free!
Easier to find than I expected, was efficient and effective way to go up the hill to Castle D'Albertis which is where we were going.
The lift is not very big and only holds about 8 people but it is relatively quick and makes frequent journeys

Lots of artists on several floors -- plus a big talk on the uppermost floor -- the building is very impressive.

When I first stepped foot in this piazza I felt something different. Besides the locals using it as a passage to other places, the piazza has shops as well. There is a 15th Century Church of San Pietro, raised above the street level with its two bell towers as a backdrop. It draws tourists like me to this piazza. Happy Travelling!

Fun little trip. Only 90c each. Nice cool corridor near via garibaldi leads to the actual lift. Lovely view from the top. Ticket machine by the door wasn’t working but there is another by the lift itself (and allows you to select English instructions 😀).

Tickets to three palaces came with the guided city tour we booked and enjoyed. Such good luck! There are staff members in the halls of thr palace who kindly show you where to start your tour and how to proceed. Plenty of art, but the floors and the ceilings were what impressed me the most.

We came here 2 nights during our city break.
    Good atmosphere and popular
Both bars we used offered good aperitivo and good service. All the bars in the area looked popular.
Hard to find as down a little ally way

The train station is located at stop number 5 of the hop on hop off bus tour. There is a nice park in front of the train station (park benches and shade). There are shops and cafes in the immediate area. The exterior of the train station is very nice. We did not have time to go inside the building.
