The view from Mediterráneo balcony is amazing, the main street La Rambla Nuova leeds from tahat point to monument od Catallan human tower. We saw old Romans monuments, circ, amfiteatar.
We saw gothic cathedral, biggest in that part...very nice and everything is very close...

Large, 3 level, Roman acqueduct. Served the city of Tarraco, capital of Roman Iberia. You can access an aire with parking and a viewing platform for photos off the AP7.

Normally you can go down a path on foot to see from below, but the path was closed for repairs. I think that was the bit the TA computer didn’t like

At the end of the Rambla there’s a balustrade and you look out across the railway and beach below to the Mediterranean beyond

We did an antiquities tour of the city and this was the first stop. Very impressive remnants of the Roman era in Spain. If you like to search for Rome in this part of the world, this is your first stop.

Roman amphitheatre below the Balcony of the Mediterranean. Between the forum and the sea. Huge. Not as well preserved as some in Italy, but still breathtaking.

The Old Town of Tarragona is located in the upper part of the city. It is a labyrinth of narrow streets lined by old buildings. The terraces of charming squares offer resting places during sightseeing.

Tarraco was founded in 218 BC by the Romans. For several centuries it boasted of being the largest province capital of the empire. Later, with the fall of the Roman Empire, it was devastated by the Visigoths, conquered by the Muslims, and re-conquered a few centuries later by the Christians.

So there are many historical periods that have left their footprints here.

Unfortunately we only saw aspects of the grand main museum building in the Old Town. However, while it is under refurbishment, a selection of the treasure trove is housed here.

Tinglado 4 was a former passenger terminal in the port until 1986. From thereon it hosted cultural events, and now serves as temporary museum stand in.

Being the oldest Roman outpost on the Iberian peninsula, Tarraco has a fascinating back story from ancient times, plus many artefacts exemplifying this status.

An engaging series of exhibits shows off this great heritage.

We were out on a long walk around town after seeing the antiquities, so of course we came to this very grand broad avenue where you will find lots of shopping, food and coffee. Very pretty, very moden.

We did a guided antiquities tour of this old Roman city, so he took us to part of the old city walls, which are still around, still impressive and show that this was a major outpost of the Empire.

Even in November, seems a great place for taking sun and bathing (if you dare). Anyway, walking along the sea and watching the surfers is very enjoyable.
