It's an icon at the beach, left over from the Olympics and the redevelopment of this area. Everyone stops here and takes photos. It is so big that you can get your bearings from this sculpture as you walk along the beach.

The tower is closed until the third quarter of 2019.

Originally conceived as a water tower to supply water to the inhabitants of Barcelona, this tower was never used for it's original purpose as it was found that the water was not safe for human consumption. Uniquely for a building of this nature, it's made entirely of bricks without any metal support. At 51 metres, the tower looks majestic, especially with the spiral staircase on the outside of the tower about 40 metres up. Shame it's currently being renovated.

It’s a great addition to the enjoyable waterfront. Showing a craft with billowing sails, it catches the attention when strolling by.

By a Catalan artist it pays homage to the sport of sailing and water enjoyed by so many.

This fountain at the entrance to Barcelonetta Beach is named after the local dancer Carmen Amaya, who grew up in the next block. . The sculpture at the fountain depicts five naked children, two with a guitar and three dancing. By today's times, everything is quite decent, but in 1959, when the fountain was opened, the nudity of children caused a protest by a local priest. Carmen Amaya gave an answer in the spirit of clerical Francoist Spain. She said they were angels, and they were always naked. The fountain was opened....

Somehow, we were never able to see the sculpture during our first visit years ago but we were aware of it. It is what it is and from what I understand, is evocative of a bygone era...it was cool to see, even if I'm not from Barcelona.

We came across Parroquia de Sant Miquel del Port while walking around the streets of Barceloneta. More often than not, the best way to see a city is by just wandering around and "getting lost" in the streets. We like to do this a lot while travelling. This lovely, 18th century church just appeared in front of us, so to speak. We did not go inside but stood outside and admired for some time. It is not a huge building but it is big enough. Worth a stop, if you happen to be in the vicinity.

This pretty tan building was designed by the architect Josep Domènech y Estap in 1907. Cute, NL in the Sword Route, include if near. Specially come not worth it.
