Old Town
#1 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
Like other medieval cities, it has it all ... history, loving restored buildings and churches, cobblestones, beautiful scenery, city walls and fantastic views.
Allow for a leisurely one day's visit strolling through the cobblestone streets and viewing the quaint buildings and other landmark attractions some of which are really medieval.

Town Walls
#2 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
We had an amazing time walking the wall and finding hidden, "secret" spots which still held medieval artifacts, The view from just about anywhere is breathtaking.
Yes, this an absolute "must do" when visiting Rothenburg o.d.T.! A walk on this elevated path offers you plenty of great views and photo ops of thecity as well as insights into what it must have been to be a guard...
Das Plonlein
#3 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
This town and view reminds one of a picturesque medieval fairyland.
The views of the surrounding area is breathtaking!
Rothenburg Town Hall (Rathaus)
#4 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
If you want a great panoramic view of Rothernburg and its surrounds, a climb to the top of the Rathaus Tower is the best place to go.
I highly recommend climbing up to the tower (small admission fee) and enjoy the amazing views over Rothenburg and the surrounding country side!

Gerlachschmiede
#5 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
From the gate tower, climb up to the sentry walk, offering magnificent views through the arrow slits, looking down on angular courtyards and narrow roofs.
The best way to view this unique building is from up on the city walls which can be relatively quiet.

The steps are steep and narrow but the end result is a fantastic view of this ancient and historic city.
Walk the periphery of the walls and appreciate history and views of the town as well as outside.

Markusturm and Buttelhaus
#10 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
Walking through the streets and looking at the sites is a great way to spend the afternoon and get a good feeling of the local culture.
The houses just outside the old gate of Marksturn are amongst the best in town, and the view through the gate goes all the way to the town square.

Allow yourself plenty of time to just wander and view all around you.
These houses are one of the prominent sites in this city and you can not miss this.
Burgtor und Burg
#12 of 39 Sights & Landmarks in Rothenburg
The Burgtor is a magnificent site, especially when you walk thru it to the other side and view it from the garden where the original medieval castle stood until destroyed by an earthquake centuries ago.
Be sure to visit during the day for the views over the walls, and at night, to see it lit.
