Fascinating site, with informative display boards.
The windy road in is good fun but the real treat is when you get your first view of the coast.

The sea views from the croft were amazing to wake up to, the cute little wood burner and underfloor heating are great to ward off the cold spring evenings.
Free parking, a cafe, gift shop and just amazing houses to view in a great village setting.

A great look back into the history of the area and how people survived, beautiful site with a great view.
It's a pleasant walk down to the site and there is lots of information in a folder about how the mill and the kiln were used.

The lighthouse was comfortably accessible, with a short walk up a hillside to obtain superb views across the sea back towards the mainland.
Stunning views from lighthouse and take your binoculars to spot some marine.

The site is amazing, with the chapel ruins sitting just at the edge of land by the sea, and old graves scattered around.
The area has sea views on both sides, one with a lovely beach.

Iolare Memorial Stornoway
#14 of 18 Sights & Landmarks in Isle of Lewis
Even if you are not interested in the history, it makes for pleasant walk down to the sea, and the views are stunning.
Seeing the site helps understanding of the difficulties of those trying to gain the shore in stormy winter weather and at the dead of night smashed against the rocks with no path up the steep shoreline to safety.
#15 of 18 Sights & Landmarks in Isle of Lewis
I found myself up in Ness a few years back and the fog had rolled in, making a view from the lighthouse impossible.
