One of the major sights in Glasgow and important to understand the history of religious reform in Scotland. Joining a tour is helpful.

I went because I am a member of National Trust and it was free. In fact, it is definitely worth paying. The place is fascinating and it gives you a good insight into the history of Glasgow and its people. The people working there are extraordinary – they know so much and are more than happy to answer question after question. My partner and I think this might well be the highlight of our short stay in Glasgow. Get there early as it is tiny and it gets cramped. There are toilets and a coffee vending machine.

We had our wedding at House for an Art Lover, and it was exactly what we wanted. The customer service is excellent, and the support from the Wedding Co-ordinators was outstanding. Everything from the food to the small details was executed perfectly, so I would recomment the venue to everyone.

Liam did an excellent job of showing us around the City Chambers as well as explaining the architecture and history of the building.
It is well worth a visit but arrive early as it has limited space (25) and only goes at 10:00 and 2:30.
    It is also free.
A great look into Glasgow's rich history as well as a very beautiful building.
Even got a chance to sit in the Lord Provost's Chair.

Fabulous addition to the Riverside Transport Museum. The Glenlee Tall Ship does have an admission fee of £4.50 per adult but it was certainly worth it. A four level ship which you’re allowed to pretty freely explore. Very interesting information about the ship’s history in Glasgow, it’s usage and whereabouts. There is also a cafe on board and lovely staff from start to finish. There are also educational spaces and games which would make it perfect for school trips.

I visited Glasgow Green on my way to The People's Palace and this is a fine park that is easy to walk around as it's flat and stretches for about a mile through the East End. This is an excellent park to practivce yoga( I saw two women doing yoga on mats), exercise a dog, play football, or merely have a long walk like I did. The Victorian momuments, including one to Horatio Nelson, fountains and gates as you enter add to the appeal, and in summer Glasgow Green is used for concerts.

Glasgow Green is on the eastern edge of the city centre and easy to find if you follow the tourist signs. While not as lavish as The Botanical Gardens and Kelvingrove Park, it's still a nice place to visit for an hour.

Great little historical attraction in Glasgow to see if you’re near. The ancient house is nice for a short look around and the garden full of medicinal plants is really interesting. The highlight for us was the lovely staff member (sorry we can’t remember his name but we were there 30th August if that helps!) who was really nice and told us all about the history.

I accept some previous comments that the cafe is not quite what it used to be. Today, for the first time in many years, we took the guided tour of the house. We found it fascinating, brought alive by the knowledge of Oliver, our guide, who I hope is recognised by the NTS for his great service. (But maybe speak a wee bit slower!)

.. upon this clock tower by chance but it did grab our attention. I suppose a little forlorn now stranded in the middle of a road junction but perhaps it always was ?

Beautiful building unfortunately there was a security guard there and it’s all fenced up. we travelled from fife to visit the place so was a wee bit gutted. Apparently there’s a way in around the side and under the ground.

My wife and I recently got married in this stunning venue.

All the staff (especially Judy, Willie and Paul) were very friendly, professional and couldn't do enough to help make our day an amazing spectacle.

Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and commented on the stunning architecture and history of all the rooms and the building itself.

We would therefore thoroughly recommend this venue to anyone wishing to host any event.

Previously called St Georges Place, in the 80's, Glasgow City Council decided to rename this to honour Nelson Mandela, who was then imprisoned in South Africa.

This was the council sticking 2 fingers up at the, then, apartheid regime, because this was where the South African embassy was situated. This meant that all mail would be delivered to - South African Embassy, Nelson Mandela Place, Glasgow.

Subsequently, Mandela after his release visited Glasgow, and was awarded the Freedom of the City of Glasgow.

His autograph is now on display in the city chambers.

Free to visit and access to the top of the NE tower. The castle ruins are in good condition. The curved ceiling on the ground floor is impressive. You ascend the tower via one straight staircase with a hand rail, a spiral staircase with the original stone axis to grip and then three iron ladders. The view is worth the climb.
