- Cora Visits PlacesGlasgow, UK229 contributionsBarras market is an absolute clash between the generations. All the stalls are either antique/junk stalls with so much broadly undesirable stuff that you wonder how they ever stay open, and trendy millennial stalls selling fancy cookies and thrifty clothing and such.
In a way it is nice that the barred has preserved so much of the past, there aren’t many places like this anymore and it is very nostalgic and unique, you could find some things here you’d never find anywhere else. On the other hand like I said some stalls are just pure rubbish, like rejects from a charity shop, or worse have offensive items like racist memorabilia or a corner dedicated to “wimmin’s books” with old illustrations of housewives being spanked that make my stomach turn.
There are definitely some gems though. Cookie Lady Mel makes some delicious bakes and if you are a maximalist you have GOT to check out Lulu Makes Things, she’s the best upcycler I’ve ever encountered. Honestly the Barras is worth visiting at least once, it’s a Glasgow stapleWritten 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can still get some bargains, but no so many. Heavily frequented by foreigners, Eastern Europeans and Africans, and there is a lot of theft, mainly from the traders, but you do have to be aware of pickpockets.
OK for fruit and veg, and the meat wagon does good deals.
A complaint I have heard from sellers is the rudeness of the organisers' staff, and I have heard it myself. Also it is expensive compared to most car boots. Still worth an occasional visit, but I wouldn't go every week.Written 17 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I’ve picked up some fantastic unique gifts here for the last few years, always different makers/artists of a consistently high standard in attendance.Written 7 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cheryl M3 contributionsWhat can we say...our wedding day was honestly the most perfect day and we wish we could do it all over again. This was all thanks to The Engine Works. They were incredible hosts, so professional, friendly and everything was flawless from start to finish. Everything and anything we asked for was executed to perfection and if you are looking for a blank canvas venue, then this is most definitely the place for you!
Thank you so much to Erin and Leigh in particular who were just fantastic in creating the wedding of our dreams.

From a list of five I managed to purchase four Which was more than I had expected, but the staff also advised that I should call back midweek and they could possibly reorder the one that I had failed to find.
I'm very pleased to share that I did, and they did.
This is the first year that I have managed to cover everything that I wanted and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending that music lovers visit the shop if they are in Glasgow.Written 28 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
