What travellers are saying
- Jesscat61 contributionsEating upstairs is something of an expensive nightmare. I favour Pret which is on the more reasonable side. Spudulike tatty for 7:99 is a joke though. Seating upstairs is ok, but often very crowded. Try preloading with food before you visit.Written 19 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Neil KLiverpool, UK611 176 contributionsStonegate is one of the most historic streets in York and a street I always visit on any trip to York that I take .
Such an historic street, first laid out as Via Praetorian ,this was the Roman road that led to he Roman Basilica ,it gained it's name as it was possibly the first stone road in York but an alternative theory as to how Stonegate gained it's name was the stone brought in from Tadcaster Quarry to construct the cathedral took this path.
The street nowadays is lined with exquisite architecture both sides and there's some really good boutique shopping outlets along this street ,for me it's the fantastic pubs along Stonegate that draw me to this wonderful street,if you're planning a trip to York it's most definitely a street I highly recommend you check out.Written 24 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - RiShaLondon, UK342 contributionsCame here to pick up lunch recently, as I heard about Los Moros in the market. We came a little early, so it wasn't that busy and not everything was set up. But still, it looks like a good social hub. Also, right next to some interesting trivia for Harry Potter enthusiasts!Written 5 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Luciano BecchioColchester, UK50 contributionsVery well run, food tried was good and great variety of drinks! Easy table service, only shame was there was no atmosphere considering it was bank holiday eveningWritten 24 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- joebloggs2014Dublin, Ireland27 contributionsSome aspects of the presentation were incredible and the overall experience was memorable.
Unfortunetly the Journey experience was all that lived up to expectations featuring Van Gogh which lasted for 17 mins approx duration.
Car parking was a hefty €7 for full day even though we were only there for 100 mins.
The experience left an impression but I was not impressed overallWritten 8 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - RichieB66Redcar, UK84 contributionsGreat to walk around and see all the antiques and artifacts very interesting the place is like a maze. There's also a great cafe upstairsWritten 22 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AlinaDerby, UK2 contributionsBought really nice very gentle string of natural pearls for a veeeery good price. I can spend there another hour of browsing.Written 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Karen FLincoln, UK710 contributionsGreat place - staff were really helpful and let you try the gins. They knew which tonics to pair each one with and could make suggestions based on personal preferences. Outlaw gin was wonderful but they were all really good.Written 2 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MedEnglandEngland2 302 contributionsWith the Jorvik Centre still not scheduled to open until April 2017, the adjacent St. Mary's Church offers a suitable space to tell the Viking story in York. The wooden boat dominates the display but the surrounding explanatory panels are very interesting and relate to accompanying artefacts. Also, there is an army of appropriately clad highly enthusiastic guides.Written 29 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jo PWoking, UK8 contributionsYork certainly has many unmissable sights but it's always nice to take home that little something you've discovered to keep as a reminder of your trip.
Pyramid Gallery is a little gem of a shop to discover on your walk through the Shambles. Full of unique quality arts & crafts, jewellery & lots more. I for one love to shop jewellery & was in my element surrounded by so many interesting designs. Two purchases later & I returned the following day for another two!
If I could wrap this shop up & pack it in my suitcase I wouldn't hesitate! Shopping made fun with such patient & thoroughly pleasant staff. Wonderful experience xxWritten 19 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - fionamgravesMaidstone, UK41 contributionsScoops in the Coppergate shopping centre sells great quality ice cream. The owner recommended the creamy raspberry pannacotta yesterday and it was just...chef's kiss! Easygoing, friendly guy playing great music and he was very close to the Jorvik Viking Centre. I hope we find him again next time we visit York.
I can't comment on the shopping experience as we didn't shop elsewhere.Written 22 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - rcowanYork, UK74 contributionsVisited for lunch with 3 others, wonderful vegetarian food, all very fresh in a Mediterranean style. Beautiful gardens if the weather is warm enough. Will definitely visit again.Written 15 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Vacation8265523 contributionsStaff and food and drinks all fine - but why is it always cold in here?! It's the same all year round!Written 14 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tom MHalifax, UK3 contributionsI love ska punk especially The Specials. I saw that this gallery is running an exhibitoon from Specials main man Horace Panter! My Dad and I said this was a no brainer. We went over and met the owners. The show was excellent and truly stunning, the art work of their latest artist Imogen Hawgood is wonderful. We were tempted to buy one but we bought a Horace Panter print instead but we wiull be 100% back. We had a beer in the Kings Arms afterwards and talked about how important it is for a city to have good galleries. The daffodils are out and it's amazing to see Clifford's Tower look so good.Written 12 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SOJO_8Cockermouth, UK26 contributionsIn a town with so much tourist art, it’s great to see an independent gallery full of contemporary graphic, street and thought provoking art. We enjoyed some inspirational chats with owner Craig and even brought a part of “Art Of Protest” home with us.Written 9 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
