Amazing venue and so much more than a Cathedral and important part of English history. It’s also a museum of sorts with the history articulated well throughout the venue. The cafe is also lovely - especially the loose leaf tea.

We booked a mini zoo keeper experience. This was an utterly brilliant 90 mins. Simon our keeper was so upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable. Our 10 year old daughter loved getting up close to the animals. Lots to see and do and everything was close together. Perfect for the younger ones to run around and explore. Very much recommend.

Took the kids to Hatfield house for the half term experience. Absolutely fantastic and have bought a membership now. Beautiful long walk and made bird feeders. Then took the truck ride and a lovely man named Dermot was explaining some of the history of the area. Showed us where Paddington was filmed and was generally very lovely! Can’t wait to go loads through the season.

With the daily car in use I took a day trip via train/bus to this museum. My primary goal was to see and learn more about the Mosquito aeroplane. So everyone has heard of the Spitfire and Hurricane but less know about this marvellous wooden wonder which was faster and more adaptable. I was not disappointed. Lots of info and helpful guides. Cafe was OK, microwaved baps but tea was good.
From St. Albans City station there is a a half-hourly number 84 bus (the museums’s website says from High Street, no, outside railway station) the bus driver knew where to stop for me. 5-10 min walk down the drive, past old interesting buildings and Salisbury Hall itself.
I probably could have spent longer there but was mindful of travel, time back home.

For those who don't know, this is a taxidermy museum, so full of stuffed animals. This may not be to everyone's liking as a result, but is actually very interesting. I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to how many animals and species are there - it is over several floors so there is a lot. It is very clean and well-maintained, and there is quite a lot of interesting info including how it all started and by whom. You can also watch a video about the taxidermy process (top floor just before the dog section) if you want to. You can easily spend a few hours here and it is suitable for families - there were a lot of children there when we went and they all seemed to be finding it interesting. Would recommend as a place to visit if you have a couple of hours to kill.

Awful parking but a magical little train ride (charming and wooded and just lovely) and a great play park - albeit the equipment a bit close together. Not to mention the splash park which is great but gets a bit hairy with the big kids. The river provided much interest for the 4 and 2 year olds and I almost wished we’d skipped the water park in its favour. Obviously great supervision and caution and hygiene should be observed around water - rivers/streams included!

Myself and four friends visited Bhaktivedanta Manor - Hare Krishna Temple this morning (Sunday 3rd March 2024). We had pre-booked a tour and can't praise our lady tour guide enough. The Temple itself is beautiful and full of interesting history and the gardens, particularly the George Harrison Garden, are spectacular. Our guide was knowledgeable, approachable and a wonderful advocate for the Hare Krishna ethos. She immediately put everyone at ease and readily answered all our many questions. The temple was busy and worship was taking place. After touring the house/temple we were taken through the gardens and completed the tour with a visit to the farm to see the cows. Following the tour we were welcomed at the free vegetarian lunch which was tasty and plentiful and a lovely experience of sharing food with others. We all left feeling very enlightened and peaceful. Thank You. Highly recommend.

Pretty place to visit. Probably better to go in July. Lavender appeared to be coming to the end not very colourful. Sunflowers were beautiful, as was the view. A little overpriced, £7 entrance fee £4 a bag for lavender, £1 per sunflower. Nice ice cream the honey and lavender was lovely. Good farm shop was hoping for some lavender honey but they don't sell it. Would recommend

First time at Willows was very impressed for the value of money for Santa spectacular compared to other places!
What you can expect for your little ones-
    Cuddly toy to stuff
Toy of child’s choice from santa
    Gingerbread man decorating
    Toy from santa village
All of this is included in the £87 !

In total my son (2yrs old) and I spent 3hrs at willows , I would advise booking to see santa as early as you can and make that the first thing you do before the rest of the facilities, as the wait is long but we waited just over 30mins, but there was plenty of decorations in the queue line to keep the kids busy looking 👀 , also a lot of photo opportunities in the line too , with the staff also taking a professional photo at the beginning of the queue before you enter the grotto.

The tractor ride was a bit short and no animals were out as it was very windy but that was understandable , we still enjoyed the atmosphere, then we we moved onto the petting farm , unfortunately we missed out on getting any food for the animals (who did seem very hungry!) as the staff didn’t promote this when we entered where to get feed… next time I will definitely ask at the front desk as their isn’t any sold in the petting farm… which is a shame so I’ve knocked off points for some staff being unenthusiastic… other than that it was a great day out.

Management need to rethink who they put on the front desks and tills though as they seem unenthusiastic to be there especially when you have an event on like Santa , it’s not so great.

Stunning location for the bakehouse cafe
Food and coffee good and helpful staff
Was very pleased to see they have a separate room which does NOT allow dogs
As an allergy sufferer this is important
I hope more establishments take note on this point
    Its being inclusive for everyone
I do think however that the area where you order food should be dog free
You have to go to the counter to order and you will be near dogs which is not good for allergy sufferers
