This was an excellent tour! We saw so many beautiful sights including a boat ride, and time observing beaches and mountains. The ending at Table Mountain was spectacular. My mother has limited mobility and Gordon, our guide, took excellent care to make sure we had the best access to the sights. Our guide Gordon was super friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.

We loved this tour. Our guide was very good, able to offer his personal perspective having been a prisoner at Robben Island. My only criticism is the length of the tour. There was so much to read and absorb, I wish we could have lingered at the prison longer and spent less time riding around the island. A special thank you to Joseph who worked really hard to make sure we didn’t miss the boat after a communications mix up. He was kind and professional throughout what was a stressful situation for him and us.

Booked tickets in the UK. Very easy via Trip Advisor. Boarding the ferry was also easy.

Once we reached the island, we entered a bus that took us on a tour of the island. The bus was full and quite cramped. There were both English and French speaking on the same bus, so 2 guides were commentating. Not an issue, but had it been just one language, we may have got round a bit quicker as we had to wait at the various stops for both to finish.

There was a 10 minute break at a very limited cafe but it did sell drinks and a cake.

Depending on what side the bus you were on, depended which landmark you were able to see.

Once the bus tour finished, we were met by an ex political inmate who gave us a tour of the prison itself and a little speech at the end about his experience. This also felt rushed as we didn't have time to look at the exhibition.

We then quickly had to leave for the ferry back.

Good tour, the guides were very knowledgeable and would recommend just because of the history.

However, it was rushed, crowded, saw only half the landmarks and no time to browse the gift shop.

The boat ride was nice, although quite windy. We got to see penguins on our way. Our guide at the prison was a prisoner himself back in the late 60’s. All the guides were prisoners at some time. To get actual accounts from our guide, was fascinating and sad. So glad we took the tour!

The views from Robben Island were great! The sites on the island were kept in their original state bring reverence to the place. The prison itself was emotional touching.

The trip said max of 60 people. I was the only booking and they didn't cancel. I had the day in a car with my driver James.
James shared a lot of knowledge with me. He was really good company and he even had lunch with me.
Scenery both ways is amazing hugging the coast on the way and more inland on return.
L'Agulhas was quiet so no problems for photo opportunities.
We departed my hotel around 07:45 getting back to my hotel at 17:15.
Thanks James and Once in Africa Travel.

Highly recommend - we visited the township of Langa with our family (6) youngest was 10yrs old - our tour guides Sam & Leon were excellent - it was so educational and we could not believe the access into the township we got - so sad to see first hand the conditions & hardship the poor people live in & face everyday - as a family we are so happy we did it - once in a lifetime experience and it sure gives you a new perspective on life !

If I could give 3.5 here I would
    Inbetween average and very good

Guide was cheerful and a nice enough chap and on time when collecting but after a while he did waffle. I came in this trip because I don’t know much about wine and wanted to learn about it. Shopping time in a stop off point I can do anytime, this was a vineyard tour. 3 vineyards part of the trip.
Stop 1 Was the most thorough, see the room with the barrels, then sit down and try a white a rose and
a red. Hints of caramel, vanilla, strawberry etc, little did we know that as the day went on it was going to be the same script but more progressively rushed on each stop.
Stop 2. Lovely place, sommelier there trying to manage a room with different tours all at once -didn’t get to try all the wines we were supposed to be trying before being ushered out to go to the lunch stop half an hour away.
Stop 3 (after lunch) tram ride through beautiful countryside, lovely, venue exquisite and reminding me of an old colonial place you see in the films
I’m glad we did the trip and the guys were nice folks but I must be honest and say I’ve come back still not knowing anything about wines other than they all have the same aromas apparently
There was a real international mix of people which was cool, the impromptu stop to see the Nelson Mandela prison where he was released from was a nice touch too. The guide was a nice guy and was there throughout. I blame the company more than the employees here, they need better planning and should make it more educational insisting that enough and equipped sommeliers are in attendance and able to educate
Feedback for the African Eagle company that organised this trip, the review form that you are asked to complete is more of an assessment of the guide’s performance than an opportunity for them to get feedback on the trip itself. From this I get the impression that they’re not the best company to work for and I’d wager guides come and go here if that’s what they’re more concerned about than genuine feedback which I hope they’ll benefit from if any of their hierarchy get to see this.

Ellie (I hope I spell her name right?) from Culinary Tour was amazing I had an incident happened and she went above and beyond. I'm definitely coming back with my husband to book their tours again in the very near future. Thank you very much.
