- Stephen MorrisDubai, United Arab Emirates41 contributionsDefinitely one of the highlights of our road trip from Cape Town Waterfront to Cape point. The winding road hugs the mountain side with continuous views of the ocean.
Also plenty of places to stop to take full advantage of the spectacular views.
A small entry fee is payable but well worth it.Written 21 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CRLsrating677 contributionsThis is a great shopping area with lots of options for dining and shopping. A great place to people watch.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ashvparkerCape Town, South Africa6 contributionsOf course Lion's head is free, other than the energy required to get up. However if you are looking for a hike, Lion's head is by far the easiest hike the gives the best of the Cape Town mountain views. Great to do for sunset and easy to get down under moonlight.Written 19 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- cldtxNew Braunfels, TX40 contributionsThe first thing we had to see in Cape Town was the penguins! We loved them. The way they walked, the way they sounded, the way they wondered into the parking lot. They’re adorable.Written 20 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- AlistairCoyBingley,UK150 contributionsWith the exception of 2021, we have been coming to South Africa now for 11 years and our very first port of call on every occasion is Vergelegen and The Stables Restaurant
It is a stunningly beautiful place to visit and there is little doubt that since we were last there in March 2020, there have been some major changes, all for the better I might add, under the guidance of Wayne Coetzer, the new Managing Director.
It is truly hard to fault the experience of a visit here and this time we were accompanied by our own kids and grandkids and they became as bewitched by the place as we have always been! In fact the last place they wanted to visit before their return home was Vergelegen.
You run out of superlatives but I have to give special mention to the staff in Stables Restaurant who are always so warm and friendly. Particular mention to Glen and lovely Nourane who welcome us everytime like long lost friends.
Vergelegen will always remain the first and last place we visit on our annual trip to South Africa and we look forward to 2023 in anticipation of what further changes have been made.
If I was to highlight any disappointment by the way, it would be being unable to attend this year's RMB Starlight Classic due to Covid and the reduced guest numbers who are by invite only! This is such a wonderful event to attend and missing it two years in a row is a bitter blow.
Keep up the great work Mr Coetzer and team and continue to make this the most awesome place to visit.Written 28 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - HansRajCape Town, South Africa9 contributionsIt was a life-changing experience. The spectacular views of the landscape, the entire harbour and the city lights, especially at night created everlasting memories. You get to see Robben Island from the top.
The cable ride up to the top and back was fun. It rotates as it moves, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of Table Mountain and get a panoramic view of the city, the harbour surrounded by the sea.
There's also a nice place to get coffee and snacks at the Table Mountain Cafe. Souvenirs can be purchased at the entrance by the cable car station on top.
If you're visiting Cape Town for the first time (like me), it's an absolute necessity to go to Table Mountain.
P.S: if you're want to save some bucks, try to go in the afternoon. The cable car ride is cheaper.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CRLsrating677 contributionsThe views were amazing. It was interesting to see all the baboons, which you have to watch out for. This is a great place if you like hiking.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JS_in_BangkokCambridgeshire, UK227 contributionsHigh quality wines for tasting, great knowledge shared by the staff and the staff engaged with customers to make it more fun.
A choice of 5 wines and if you’re lucky a couple of extras, be nice to the staff 🤣
Great value too at 125 rand!!!
Oh and you get to keep your wine glass too.Written 21 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Donald and Pamela LindsayHouston, TX1 contributionSouth Africa such a great place ! I had the opportunity to live & work there for about 18 months - employed with Fluor Corp, retired after working 42 yrs with same company, retired 5 years ago, still in Houston Tx. Worked in Secunda, very close to Johannesburg, had a car, and spent many weekends traveling throughout SA. Best means was tent-camping in caravan parks, no reservations required, very secure, and glad there was a double fence at Krueger Park. My wife was able to visit me after working 12 months, and we took a 2-week tour of SA - CapeTown, Jeffrey's Bay, Sodwana Bay, too many to name here. . Loved the Cape best of all - top of the Table Mountain giving great views, learning so much about Nelson Mandella, and SA history. . Diamond Mines, Rugby - Go Springboks ('Here Come da Bokkies'). Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Johnny Kleeg, Mambo Grove, so many great memories. . Great vineyards along the Cape. Maybe we will be able to visit this beautiful country again!Written 6 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vtmpHouston, TX70 contributionsBreath taking sunset. A plus was that you got to see the night light of the city below and the table mountain silhouette. I went twice to see. Just to remind if you want to get a parking, you should got there an hour earlier so that you could pick a park and a spot to enjoy. Loved itWritten 16 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CRLsrating677 contributionsKids always seem to love aquariums, and our kids loved this place. We wanted to try to the diving experience but they have limited time spots available. Technically, the aquarium does not have the true junction between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
