What travellers are saying
- Tricia SCharlotte, NC39 contributionsOur hotel shuttled us to the beach and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations! It was quiet and beautiful. I did not see any public restrooms, but A short walk to Blackbeard’s and you can get a great lunch, drinks and clean restrooms. In front of Blackbeard’s you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas, also jet skis.Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angelize1999Finger Lakes, NY466 contributionsVery pretty gardens. Small. We visited as part of a tour when cruising to Freeport. We had 45 minutes to tour gardens and I would say another 15 minutes tops would have been enough to see everything. Not sure of admission but I would not pay over $8 a person. A few shops with friendly people were inside and a small garden cafe.Written 15 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emily RSturgis, MI58 contributionsLess than seven minute ferry ride from the Pelican Bay Hotel to Taino Beach. The ferry driver has been captaining boats for quite a number of years. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. If you’re staying at the Pelican Bay, you can take the free ferry over to Taino Beach. Make sure you have a room key or proof that you are staying at Pelican Bay. You can then enter the restricted access area. It’s a short walk to the beach. Mid May 2023, it was very quiet, peaceful and clean.Written 15 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TiffanyHCWarrenton, VA173 contributionsWe took the shuttle to the port. Unfortunately most of the shops were closed. The shops that were open the shop keepers were very pushy. There’s also no pricing to n anything.Written 18 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Sophia E MEgham, UK19 contributionsWent on a kayak and snorkeling trip with Calabash Eco Adventures and loved the snorkeling around the Cay - completely worth it going out there. Reef is looking very alive with hard corals and an abundance of tropical fish. Had one nurse shark swimming round us towards the end (they're harmless and uninterested in us), and then shortly afterwards found one resting on top of the reef (somewhat unusual as they like to sleep under overhangs/in caves). The resting nurse shark decided it didn't like snorkelers staring at it, and swam away - straight underneath me! I could have touched it if I wanted, but I left it alone - scary and exciting. It was not nesting season for the protected birds, so we didn't see the reason this is a protected area, but you probably don't go to Peterson Cay to see birds.Written 4 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony TMississippi1 516 contributionsLast port of call on our 4 day cruise. There are several local booths in this area. few other places to eat and get a drink. Just a nice little place to walk around and pass a few hours.Written 15 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jean4 contributionsWe stayed on Silver Point Beach for a week. The sand is soft, the waves are chill. Great spot to watch the sunrise or sunset. There is also a walking path along the road by the water. Lots of small eateries nearby too.Written 3 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- joe-chicago-23Chesterfield, MO1 114 contributionsI basically agree with all the prior reviews posted here. Calm waters, soft sand, some sandbars at low tide. Plenty of parking available. It's just calm and relaxing.Written 26 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John HAlexandria, VA90 contributionsTry to get there at low tide. Chop is probably at a minimum and visibility at its best. Probably the best snorkeling on the island. It's $4 to use the facilities, about $20 to rent equipment, and there are sundry other fees for floats, beach chairs and the like. They do have fresh water showers, although I imagine using soap would be frowned upon. Our guide suggested shampooing in the restroom if necessary. Don't forget that sunscreen on your back--It does NOT take long to burn. Better yet, wear a long-sleeve t-shirt. We went on two days two days apart, and the experiences in the water were very different. Don't be afraid to come here twice i yo have the time. It's that nice in the water. Food is reasonable. We recommend the grilled grouper sandwich. They are making an artificial reef out of a couple hundred hollow concrete balls they call "fish condos". Check them out, especially if it's choppy. They may be packed with fish sheltering from the chop. The ones in the middle had the most fish in them when we went, so check them all out. Two black marks: 1) Wifi access is $6. If you are driving, it's nice to be able to plot a course back without having your pocket picked. 2) Lunch orders can get screwed up. It happened to us, and the-customer-is-right is not a thing here. We had to get our tour group owner to go to bat for us.Written 12 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
