Caves, rivers, falls, grottos, canyons, natural pools with crystal clear water, mountain hills surrounded by butterfly lily, Cuba’s national flower; blooming from June to September.
The hike itself was wonderful — we got to hang out by a waterfall, see a capybara, a python, and some wild pigs, and swim in a beautiful swimming hole that also has the little fish that clean your feet.

Journey went through mangrove-forests, small waterchannels, wonderful tropical nature and vegetation as orquids and different sorts of palms growing in natural environment.
Clearly very well practised at giving this tour, Roberto sped us around a bit but also did the quiet, calm parts so we could hear and see the birds.

2) One day for Cayo Jutias from Viñales should be enough, and worth the 2h trips, as the beach is impressive and quite, yet there are other beautiful beaches around Cuba, with easier access.
It took us 2 and half hours to get there from Vinales due to road condition, but it was worth it, theres the main beach and if you walk 30m through the woods you will get to another beach which will amaze you, no...

At the heart of the park is the impressive 1905 statue to Jose Marti sculpted by Jose Vilalta y Saavedra, with gardens on either side in which you can sit in the shade of the trees.
This area called Central Park or Parque Central is surrounded by architecture at its finest, lots of beautiful hotels (Iberostar, Inglaterra, Parque Central) that have retained Cuban design.

In boats accommodating one, two, or three, depending on the size of your party, you are rowed out into the lagoon, which would be lovely in itself without a single bird, and then come the winged friends.
This is a beautiful lagoon encircled by mangroves where you will be rowed out on the water to see hundreds of flamingoes and many, many other birds.

Isla Media Luna Cayo Guillermo

We visited this small island and enjoyed a wonderful lobster lunch after snorkeling in a coral reef as part of a catamaran excursion that also included a visit to nearby Playa Pilar.
Instead, take the Hop On/Off Bus to Playa Pilar, and walk to one end of the beach to the water sports hut to book your own catamaran to the island.

Great beach with bar service by locals, ice cold beer delivered to your deck chair on the beach, amazing grilled lobster from a very small cafe just behind the dunes
We took the 5 CUC tourist bus out to the beach at 9am, got to the (deserted) beach at 9.30am, body-surfed the waves (because we are Aussies) until 10.30am and caught the bus back to be in Parque Central by 11am.
