We went up to Shirley Heights on a Sunday. We wanted to see the sunset and maybe have a drink and listen to the music, but then be back at our hotel by about 7pm. We took a taxi up there at 4.30, nicely ahead of the rush, and quickly got drinks and seats to watch the sunset. The crowd built up rapidly …. We were glad we were there early. The bbq looked good but the lines were very long, as were the lines for drinks by the time we left! The view was spectacular and well worth it for fantastic pics of the sunset to the backdrop of an enthusiastic steel band. We left as the live band was coming on and the party was really warming up. It was absolutely heaving and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Lots of drink, decent food, lots of dancing and more than a whiff of ganja in the air I suspect. Happy to leave it to those with younger legs than me at that point but thoroughly enjoyed it whilst I was there.

A small area with old more or less restored houses.
The atmosphere is ruined by the many cars driving in the area. There are many parking spaces and many places where cars and trucks park. This ruins the atmosphere. All cars should be parked in the large parking lot outside the area. It is of course okat the very few necessary drives take place, but all parking should be done outside.

Super low key place. Peaceful. Listen to the water come ashore and work on your tan. Sometimes you’re faced with some rough waters this time of year, but the harbor negates this. Most people were there for the peace and quiet while soaking in the sun and working on their tan. Never saw a single kid.

Absolutely amazing. Hiked from Galleons Beach through a short trail and then onto the rocks. We did this at high tide and it was fine but I would recommend low tide to make it a bit easier navigating the rocks. We went mid day and there was no one there so we had the whole site to ourselves. Great views of the formation and the water. There was a good high and dry area near the end of the formation where we were able to safely relax for a while and fly a drone for more pics and videos. Definitely a must see!

Excellent morning hike , takes about 40 mins from the main road , would suggest good shoes and a bottle of water but not as steep a walk as pigeon point

The Dow Interpretive Center is included when you purchase the US$15 admission to Nelson's Dockyard. It is a 10 min drive from the Dockyard. It offers a 20 min multimedia show that tells the history of Antigua from native inhabitants, colonization, slavery, independence and modern Antigua. It felt more geared for grade school children, but it was interesting enough. Shows every half hour. It closes at 5pm but the last showing is at 430pm. The best part of the visit is the views from Dow's Hill which offers a commanding view of English Harbour and the southern coastline of the island. This is where the British built fortifications and where senior officers were housed and where the governor of the Leeward islands resided. All of that was destroyed in an earthquake in 1834 and never rebuilt but the views remain. However, I would say that the views from Shirley Heights which are not as distant are the best.

Located at Nelson's Dockyard and included in the US$15 entrance fee to the Dockyard. It is a small but interesting museum displaying the history of the famous dockyard which was headquarters of the British Navy in the Caribbean in the 1700-1800s when Britain was trying to hold onto its American Colonies and when it was at war with France and Napolean. Well worth 20-30min when visiting the Dockyard.

History really comes alive here. Very little has changed since it was built in the 1700s. Great views of the sea from these walls. Bring water if it's hot. I would recommend hiking over the Middle Ground trail to Pigeon Beach after exploring the fort. 3 more forts can be found along the trail. The views are some of the best in Antigua.

Everything in this shop is stunning. The artist was recognized by Buckingham Palace! There are large and small carvings, as well as an assortment of other cool things.

This magnificent little hideaway appeals to folks who favor smaller beaches. If you find long nondescript sandy beaches boring - as I do - and prefer a slightly rugged terrain, Windward Bay beach is your ideal destination; offering seclusion and tranquility in a serene and uncrowded environment. A must for those seeking solitude <3 <3 <3

We had planned on visiting 2Six8 and then met the owners at the Antigua Vintage Tea House. Super-friendly folks. We got there on a Friday, just as the place was opening. The beer garden is family-friendly, with lots of food choices, games, and open spaces for kids to run around.

The beer is great. They're doing great work with limited resources, and are making some really good beer. We sampled what was on tap and loved it all. I wish we'd had more time to hang out, but we had to drive back to the resort. We'll spend more time there on our next visit.
