- samal52Fairfax, VA23 contributionsEverything the reviewers have said is on the mark. We've been to sheepdog demos in New Zealand which were outstanding, but Neil's dogs and demonstation far surpassed. Neil was extremely responsive to our emails asking about times, availability, etc. Anita, the friendly hairy cow, was an unexpected bonus.Written 9 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SDScotland, UK48 contributionsBrilliant animal experience in the heart of the Highlands. Wasn't expecting much as it was a gloomy winter afternoon, but my daughter and I both loved it. The driving area is a fun start and takes you past the polar bear enclosure, then on past a range of deer, elk and other animals. Once parked up, you get to wander around the many paths and boardwalks and find lots of other enclosures. Particularly enjoyed the impressive tigers, I hadn't known beforehand that they were there. Being late in the year, there were very few people around but the park still had lots of talks for you to learn more. Also an interactive learning area for both adults and kids to use. I didn't use the on site catering options but they're available all year round. Really enjoyed it. Go early in winter, it's dark around 3pm!Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MarphLiverpool, England175 contributionsA little bit hard to find and now some of the sculptures are rotten and lying flat. Well worth a visit though and the woods have lots of walks.Written 21 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Arlene HKeith, UK1 contributionSuidhe Lodge is a little run down in some areas, but is still a great property with lovely garden and super support from the staff at GNL, but it's not suitable for everybody. I spent a lot of time looking for somewhere that would could be used for my husbands 40th birthday; lots of these larger houses specify no parties and ask that you confirm what the gathering is for to ensure that its a good fit for all. Suidhe Lodge does neither, and as it also has a pub attached so I thought it would be a better option for us. We received noise complaints on the Friday night as we'd been in the hot tub after 10pm. We apologised to GNL team and directly to the neighbour's the following day. The neighbours from both sides of the lodge then appeared at the hot tub at 9.10pm on the Saturday night to tell us to get out because they had small children trying to sleep. We apologised again and said that we thought we were ok to use it till 10pm and were advised that those rules didn't matter because of the young children, and because we had all been down the bottom of the garden playing games in the afternoon. We weren't looking to fall out with anybody so we just got out, but it was disappointing when the hot tub had been a 'deal breaker' in ruling out other lodges. So if you have a family or are planning on being out and about during the day it's a super spot, but the neighbours could be a bit problematic if you are a group of adults, or if you like to play rounders and have BBQ's on sunny afternoonsWritten 26 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice sundowners location for sure with friendly staff

We also saw areas that have become 'ecological deserts' as a consequence of unsustainable deer-hunting and grouse-shooting for sport. Our visit, led by our inspirational guides Stef and Peter, showed us the potential for making the Highlands ecological rich, at the same time benefiting local communities through 'nature tourism'. Change is slow, but hopefully gaining momentum, as the benefits for the many become more widely recognised.
