Very nice castle and park with old trees, all in very good condition. Interesting location and installation. No traffic in this time. It’s pity that lake is without water. Big parking area nearby. Cafe and snack shop is open only Monday isn’t.

I enjoyed the trip around the castle. Nicely preserved, enjoyable exhibitions and lovely park around. It is obvious, that it is taken care of - same goes for the whole town.

Lovely square to sit and have a drink surrounded by beautiful buildings. The town hall is lit up at night so make sure you see then too. When we visited they had musicians playing jazz and added to the whole atmosphere

I'm not sure what happened to my life but here I am reviewing a trip to a cemetery.

So this is a cemetery. Lots of dead people. It's an interesting cemetery because it's been designed to be like a park for people to come and hang out and enjoy the day. I approve of that because I think we spend too much time thinking that death is so bad when it's just an inevitable part of life.

    But I digress.

It's an interesting place - the cost of buying and maintaining plots here says much about the human condition. Bodies are buried 5, 6 or more deep. I didn't even know that was a thing. As usual the rich get the nicest stuff and if you don't pay your bill long enough they'll kick you out.

Go with a guide - otherwise you're just walking around among dead people.

This is a statue of a very important man in Croatian history. It is in the heart of the small town with churches and the cathedral close by.

Baroque style Catholic Church, built between 1642 and 1656 by the Jesuit order (Architect George Matot). The bell tower was completed in 1676.

The Town Hall is a striking building at one end of the square. As one wanders through Varazdin, it is a good building to use as a landmark.

The consecrated wine turned into the Blood of Christ during mass in the 14th century and is on display here in this church on the right hand side of the Altar at the front. Known as the Eucharistic Miracle. It is known that a Book of Miracles was created due to the great number of miracles reported by people over the centuries. Most likely this book is at the Vatican. Its a lovely old church and is always open every day, all day for visitors. When you enter church grounds the door towards the left might be locked but the door towards the right side is open. Plenty of parking is available at the front of the town square, but you have to pay. The parking meter is a stubborn little thing so make sure you press the big white button twice and real hard so that the ticket comes out. (we found this out after 15mins :) )

This is a pretty little church in the Baroque style in Varazdin. The inside of the church is quite nice especially the organ loft.

The Franciscans are already mentionted in the 12th Century but the construction of this Monastery started in 1626. The tower was erected in 1641 and is the tallest in Varazdin (54.5m). The Church started in 1650 and was built on the site of a medieval church of Knight Hospitallers.

One of the most important monasteries of the entire Pauline order, the monastery of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lepoglava was founded by Herman the Second from Celje in 1400. During its turbulent past, the monastery was remodeled several times, the most significant change being the Baroque style that began in 1650. After Joseph II in 1786 issued a decree on the abolition of Pauline monasteries, the monks left the Lepoglava monastery. The monastery was then converted into a penitentiary, which it would remained until 2000.
But, there is far more to see in Lepoglava, because the town is famous for the beauty and magic of “Lepoglava’s lace”, which was brought here a hundred years ago by the Paulines. Its technique is unique for the using of a round hard pad and an even number of wooden sticks (“dedek” and “bateki”), over the design template, interwoven in a way that highlights the contours of a particular motif whose surface is always made in a combination of thick and sparse knit. You can see and even buy some of this perfect souvenirs in a small shop located in the center of the town.

Lots of history here for people interested in roman ruins and relics.
Otok Mladosti is green heart of Ludbreg, great place for leisure walk, or just hang out by the lake or by the river (Bednja river), where is also kayaking possible.

A lovely castle near the most beautiful town of Varaždin.
It has been returned to previous owners some years ago.
The castle is not opened for visitations. And you cannot reach anyone from the staff there. Unfortunately the new/old owner has no vision for this castle to be a tourist attraction, obviously.
