What travellers are saying
- Lucas CBuenos Aires, Argentina19 contributionsWe went with Payunia Turismo (payuniaevt.com), they are great, they give you advice and recomendations helping you to fit any activity to your trip, they also give you some discount tickets for the city. To visit the reserve a guide it's required. We booked the whole day at Reserva La Payunia, they pick you up around 8:30 and you can expect to get back around 20:00. The whole route its on a bus with several stops, one of them for eating (because of pandemics you have to bring your own). There are only restrooms at the park rangers cabin, so make sure you take advantage of that. Bring a lot water , and enjoy the beautiful landscapes you won't regret any picture even the blurry ones. After the visit they take you for a free coffe to the Llano Blanco geopark, where you can hire a one hour walk by the mountain or just sit there and relax for a bit before get back to Malargue.Written 25 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - spottymareWiltshire, UK9 contributionsYou have to buy the tickets in the tourist office in malargue (tough if you are coming up from the south!) then have about 70 km drive south to them. very scenic country. tour started very slowly in big entrance cave and nothing much happened for a while then suddenly we all went caving, up, down, ladders, on hands and knees, quite unexpected and no health and safety involved but great fun!Written 28 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - spottymareWiltshire, UK9 contributionsbit of a faff to get to: buy tickets in malargue, join a convoy and drive out, pay more for guide, drive to another car park, then 20 minutes later you are in the heart of the volcano. Interesting volcanic landscape and the chimneys are quite impressive. some minor scrambling involved but nothing dramaticWritten 28 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - handyReadingreading55 contributionsWe went on Friday night to a free viewing. We walked around the exhibits and then a programme was shown on an outside wall. When it got dark we had the chance to look through a telescope but as it was a little cloudy we only saw Aldebaran. They even gave us a small glass of wine and a cracker.Written 8 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel GBuenos Aires, Argentina11 contributionsBeautiful tiny blue green lagoon. It is worth stopping for a few minutes (no more than 30') and reliving the legend.Written 6 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LadopeConnecticut1 876 contributionsLocated at some 16 Mi. from Malargue City on Mendoza Province, Argentina, this rock formation was created from erosion, mainly by Glaciers. It looks like a huge Castle.
Apparently the name comes from the brothers Pincheira, thugs at service of the Spaniard Army who hidden there during the Argentine Independence war, (1811 to 1830).

It is a private property that has two waterfalls and an impressive number of fossils. We paid 120 pesos each to enter. That includes a self-guided hike which we did in the morning. Then we had lunch at their restaurant. We had barbecued local trout and "chivito", both very good. Then we went for the guided hike which is included in the admission price. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. She showed us fossils we would have missed by ourselves. On the way back we had desserts that they make on site, very nice. Overall we had a very good time at Manqui Malal and will probably return on our next trip in the region.Written 26 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Plymouthtraveller8Plymouth253 contributionsLas Lenas to be fair is a ski resort and we were there in the height of summer and virtually everything was closed. There was one restaurant open, which had a range of very average food, and for Argentina , at somewhat inflated prices.
Las Lenas was just about deserted, although we were there on a clear day and the views of the Andes were very good.
We took a tour with Karen Traven in Malargue and the tour included a visit to a very large sink hole and a pretty enchanted lake which was spring fed, both these sights were very good.
If I was doing this tour again in summer I would be tempted to skip Las Lenas and only visit the other attractions mentioned above.Written 17 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
