- MarkusSalisbury, UK3 contributionsWe chose Traquair as the venue for our elopement wedding and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The estate manager Gillian was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) that was provided was all excellent and the setting was just perfect. We spent our wedding morning walking around the beautiful grounds before attending our ceremony in the Yew Tree Circle which was an ideal and very intimate setting. We barely needed to do anything and spent our whole time there feeling relaxed and at ease. We will definitely be coming back to stay at Traquair, maybe for our first anniversary!Written 16 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle WEast Riding of Yorkshire, UK34 contributionsThe highlight of my husband's holiday! He trained in the 1960s on the same system as displayed here, and thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing. The guides were excellent and knowledgeable, and we came away with our own bookmarks, we had set the type for ourselves. Tours last approximately 90 minutes, and we had time to ask questions. A must for anyone with an interest in printing, history or engineering.Written 28 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Moosheep57Kirkcaldy, UK31 contributionsReally enjoyed this. I booked my granddaughter (10yr old) on the alpaca trek. It lasts about 75 mins but it’s a good walk, on forest tracks. I didn’t accompany her, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely need good footwear (especially today as it was wet and muddy underfoot). Very friendly folk who have the alpacas and all in all we spent almost 2 hrs there as you get to feed the alpacas after the walk and go visit the other ones too. Excellent value for £20.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Fiona Boyd1 contributionI love Lou Lou’s Vintage Emporium. The owner; Louise Coulson is always so helpful in advising and sourcing vintage products, including Scottish cashmere. With a great eye for detail, she can help put together the perfect outfit from a mix of vintage clothing. A broad selection of vintage giftware, including jewellery, ornaments and books completes the picture of this as the perfect shopping destination.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RichardTRCathcartGlasgow, UK58 contributionsWe simply popped in for lunch and to see the gardens. Back via the shop of course.
We arrived just at 13:30 and went for a short walk. The rush was over. Food absolutely stunning, and we sat outside in the courtyard and watched the wee birdies coming and going and in the process spotted two nests in the wall of which the staff were unaware.Written 4 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alba-on-tour25 contributionsThis is a lovely course set in a beautiful part of the Scottish Borders. Even though it’s just a 9 hole course it has been skilfully designed to challenge every club in your bag. The course was in a good condition considering the dry weather and the greens staff have kept it looking green. We stopped in for a bite to eat after our round and met Brenda who, along with Gus, served us a scrumptious lunch. If you enjoy your golf and fancy something away from the big clubs then I’d highly recommend this course. Great course, great clubhouse and very friendly people.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Natasha M1 contributionWhile planning a wellness retreat at historic Neidpath Castle, we were offered a guided tour of the space to add to our program. Accepting this offer was one of the best decisions we made because Stewart Wilson is one of the most engaging and knowledgeable guides I've ever worked with. In fact, he was willing to professionally consult with me prior to the event via video to answer some of my questions about the area and shared relevant stories which allowed me to better prepare for our program. I'm not sure if I can fully convey how Stewart's presence helped me gain appreciation for the castle and the whole area. His love for the land, people, and culture naturally surfaces through his work, and I am so grateful he does what he does! I hope I get an opportunity to visit again soon and book another tour with Stewart.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
