First visit for a few years. I took my 6 year old grand daughter and I was a bit concerned that she'd be bored but she really enjoyed the quirky nature of the house. It helped that the guide made an effort to involve her.

Shame that the tea room hasn't reopened but they did say that it is intended to reopen at some time in the near future.

    A very interesting visit.

Go here to volunteer auite frequently, lovely place! The staff are friendly and almost feel like family in some ways. The selection of animals is amazing and the vibe of the place is incredible. They do such good work for the animals they care for and need more support.

I had been told about this place by a friend. It is in a beautiful part of the Leicestershire countryside.

Plenty of parking. We parked in the overflow carpark and walked down the path to the main buildings. This path is very steep in places, so would not recommend if not wearing sturdy shoes.

There are 2 good sized charity shops here with a good selection of items. A great place to donate items as parking is close by if you park in the main carpark.

There are gardens here, but a shame all the student plots were empty as I assume they don’t help out during the holidays.

Did the walk up to Ulverscroft Manor, but found the manor’s grounds looking quite neglected. A shame as this could be a fabulous walk to bring people to the area.

The tearoom was a very good size (both inside and out). We were quickly shown to a table and given a menu, but getting our order taken took a good 10mins afterwards. In fact we were just wondering if it wasn’t table service when someone arrived. Hopefully they have more staff on during a busy lunchtime.

The cakes were great and so too the tea and hot chocolate. Prices were very reasonable. We sat outside and had lovely views over the rolling countryside. Plenty of shaded tables for those who didn’t want a sunny table like ourselves.

We would definitely come back here for lunch (and the charity shops), but would book in advance (as recommended by the waitress).

Very full on action packed day, time flies by and hours are like minutes. Varied game types with even odds.
Was a great experience and would go again
