What travellers are saying
- brightonmonkeyWindsor, UK79 contributionsHaving read so much doom and gloom about Paternoster we were somewhat anxious about coming here but SO glad we did. Yes, the season had just ended. Yes, there are crayfish sellers but they are not so bad. Yes, there is poverty so if you offer temptation it will be exploited. I don’t want to belittle others’ experiences but we found if you are just a bit self-aware and take obvious precautions you can have the most wonderful time here. It is Paradise. Great restaurants. Great accommodation. Easy connections by car. Spectacular scenery.Written 6 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick WSevenoaks, UK2 397 contributionsI took a 90 minute bike tour of the park with WOW-E bikes from Paternoster. It was a fun experience riding bikes that took all the hard work out of cycling and I had two excellent guides who pointed out many features of this deserted and quite barren area. We saw a whale carcass on the rocks too...a bit sad.Written 26 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pamela JBedfordview, South Africa11 contributionsWe explored Paternoster on the hotel bikes - stopped at all the little treasures in the village. There is just so much to do in the area, didn't get to buy anything as we were peddling and morning we left the shops were all still closed... :(Written 24 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bordeaux WhiteBordeaux, France12 113 contributionsSituated at one end of Paternoster’s beach, there is an art gallery & a few eateries & coffee shops. There is a great place to hire electric bikes too.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bordeaux WhiteBordeaux, France12 113 contributionsThis is a beautiful & quiet beach in Paternoster, which unusually has no building development. Great for a long walk, as it goes on for miles.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Pamela JBedfordview, South Africa11 contributionsWe explored the village one our hotel bikes and stopped at the Church for a quick visit. Managed to coincide with Sunday Service which was the cherry on top. Loved the church and atmosphere - arrived a little late and no seats available so be sure to get their early if you want a full service.Written 24 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SweetnSourKrautWarwickshire, UK483 contributionsThis delightful theatre is located in the former cool stores of the old fishing warehouse in Paternoster Waterfront.
Created by Jan Malan, it’s a truly unique space for creatives, performing arts, fine arts, photography, book launches & live music.
It has a dazzling array of shows and a constantly changing array of photography and artwork.
Worth a special visit, as is Paternoster itself!Written 27 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very arty gifts , not the chinese shop on the corner.
We enjoyed the vibe on the stoep/ veranda, cool and a great view. Lots of visiters coming by,and walking out with bags full of gifts.
Again, have to say that the coffee was great ,nothing worse then a bad coffee.Written 21 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The owner has a very good eye for merchandising so, not only is it eye candy, but the selection of products was really nice. Lot's of gifts, including a stunning stainless steel range made by the owner, ranging from salad servers to jewelry.
A small but very nice range of clothing, South African curio items & a fab selection of purses.
I spent my money here & will be back for sure.Written 16 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HerbertWestern Cape, South Africa7 contributionsWe did not expect much of this shop as we approached. Inside we were super surprised by their quality and variety.
Highlight was the Deluxe coffee sold inside the shop, at a very reasonable price. We went back the next day for more coffee.Written 31 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So if you don't mind hustle and bustle and cars driving past, you might feel comfortable on the veranda.
The food was ok - nothing fancy but the hake and calamari were tasty.
Service is average, the tables could have been wiped as they were not the cleanest. It's ok for a quick lunch stop but don't expect excellent cuisine.Written 10 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
