A recent wedding in the Midlands, gave me and my partner the opportunity to visit the beautifully scenic Kingdom of Lesotho. We chose the Overnight Tour with Sani Pass & Lesotho Private Tours as they promised a private tour up the Sani Pass, including a visit to remote village in the Makupung Valley with a very experienced guide and driver. The package covered transportation, meals, overnight accomodation, border control and a guided tour - allowing us to immerse in the Lesotho experience without worrying about logistics.

From the moment we sent them the first email for the tour, we had this reassuring feeling of being in good, safe and expert hands. We were picked up in the morning from our accommodation in Lidgetton West by a very warm, welcoming and approacable gentleman called Greg (Owner). The car was spacious, neat and the personal touch by Angie (Owner) was noteworthy. We passed though Underberg and continued to proceed to Sani Pass, however not forgetting to stop for some coffee and delicious home baked muffins and cookies (thanks Angie - the chocochip cookies were divine!) along the way.

Greg a pro driver, navigated the bends and non existent roads of Sani Pass with ease and offered many interesting facts about Sani Pass and Lesotho - its history, geography, flora, fauna and the not so famous “African Yeti” :) We stopped at several spots to absorb the view and take pictures. After a lovely packed lunch overlooking the valley, we drove towards a remote village across the river in the Makupung Valley to get the local feel. The experience with the village folks was very personal, interactive and humbling.

We drove back to the top of Sani Pass to have dinner and retire for the night at our cosy accommodation at Sani Mountain Lodge, which also boasts of having the highest pub in Africa. It can get very cold up there and we would definitely recommend carrying something to keep you warm. The next day morning, after breakfast at the lodge, we head back to Underberg to connect with our next chauffeur who dropped us to Durban Airport.

We were presented certificates as souvenirs at the end of the trip, such a lovely gesture Greg and Angie! We loved every aspect of this tour and would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great personal yet delightful experience. You guys put so much effort in into this, we don’t think any other tour can top what you offer with your warm and welcoming personalities.

Thank you for for your hospitality! We can’t wait to come back for the Diamond & Dinosaur tour :)

Thank you so much Anjalie, We so enjoyed having yourself and Florian's company. We are very humbled by the review and are delighted that you were happy with our service and with the tour. It is also very heart warming to note that all the little extra's were noticed and of course the fact that Greg is an advanced recovery and rescue driver as well. Thank you both again and we really look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards Angie

We have travelled to over 100 countries and have used many companies all over the world. This company would take the prizes for both value for money, communication and attention to detail.

From the moment we contacted Angie we knew this was the right company to explore Lesotho….Her guidance, planning and making sure we could do everything we wanted was second to none before we even got to our actual tour.

Greg took us on our tour and was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable. The Sani Pass was an extraordinary experience and the ‘nip’ of Whiskey at Whiskey corner was a great touch especially when combined with Angie’s home baked morning tea.

We then spent time meeting and learning about the culture and traditions of Lesotho… it is a truely magical place with so many unique traditions and stunning scenery…it has made it into our top 10 countries which is no mean feat…

Exploring Lesotho is still hard and is definitely off the usual tourist routes making it the perfect place to escape to…. Without the skill and local knowledge of Angie and Greg it would be impossible to explore all the hidden gems this wonderful country has to offer.

We would highly recommend them.

The crew is very helpful. They even helped to secretly arrange a marriage proposal. Wich, except for the wheater, worked perfectly.
Elisabeth May and her traditional blankets as well as the introduction to the Basotho traditions were super. The meet&greet with local people and their everyday life is very interesting and touching.
The landscape is astounding!
Be aware that you‘ll spend a lot of time in the car and the roads are very demanding #africanmassage!
Greg the driver is a warmhearted person, whos only interest is your full satisfaction.

Joined Greg today, with a request to see some Rock Art. Greg arranged access to private land and guided us on a lovely, informative hike and viewing of Rock Art that would otherwise be completely inaccessible. He spent 3 hours with us, never rushed, explaining about the area we were seeing. He answered all of our questions very competently, and guided us over the terrain safely. We enjoyed water and homemade snacks! Thank you, Angie! Greg’s local knowledge and genuine personality made the trip highly enjoyable. We strongly recommend Sani Pass and Lesotho Private Tours!

Greg was absolutely wonderful! I had the pleasure of exploring six days of Lesotho with him. He is very knowledgeable, well-connected to the local communities, and a whole lot of fun- I laughed so much. He made the trip incredibly interesting, informative, and memorable. He was always so accommodating, even with any ridiculous issues I had with Covid. His delightful wife, Angie, provided fantastic eats for the trip- I gained an additional 5 pounds. The itinerary that they have put together is well thought out, and provides a full experience of the culture and the beautiful landscape. I highly recommend their services and hope I get the opportunity to share Africa with them once again.

I'm so glad we booked a tour vs trying to visit Lesotho on our own. David, our guide, picked us up and dropped us off at our Airbnb, which was convenient. It was a private tour, which was great. We made stops to check out wildlife and the views. We did the Sani Pass tour. The stories and history of the areas offered us a lot of insight into the people and area that we would not have known if we attempted the pass on our own. We stopped at the highest pub for lunch. Overall, it was a great day exploring. It was nice that we were allowed all the time we wanted and weren't rushed in any way. My only regret was not booking a multi day tour. We felt very comfortable and safe on the tour.

We felt like royalty, from the moment of being picked up until we were dropped off. The attention to detail, no words can explain

The tour guide, Greg was amazing and so knowledgeable about the area. We had our elderly grandad with us on the walk and he was so attentive to him. The Bushman paintings are exquisite and well worth a visit.

And then there was the lunch... WOW, Angie, should enter Master chef!!

Overall, I would recommend the walk and this company any day of the week.

We will definitely be back for the Lesotho tour!!
