Take Hamilton rd, past Old Deloraine rd to Wirawee conservation reserve. The rd into the reserve was still closed but we were able to park and walk. We walked about 500 metres and found a small track along the river. We saw 2 platypus searching...More

Not opened to car traffic at this stage due to the flood but you can park and walk through. Very peaceful and beautiful especially at the Platypus Pond. Take your camera. Perfect location for meditation.

Unfortunately this site is closed due to recent flooding. Apparently the reserve suffered extensive damage and there are also concerns that the platypus are no longer there. You can't access the reserve at all, however we did find several platypus elsewhere in Latrobe so the...More

Being a hiker who loves nature photography I love visiting here. On the rare occasion you may see platypus in the lake but not a lot. I also love photographing fungi and this is a haven for them :)

As far as I know, this isn't offered anymore after the Floods, I work in a library in the area and had to enquire for other clients and was told it is no longer on offer after the area was washed away.
