Amazing glacial pool surrounded by mountains and overlooking the Aoos gorge. Still with snow on the shores in mid-June. You are not meant to swim as this disturbs the newts (which are neotenic). Lovely flowers on the walk to it from the Astraka Refuge

Strenuous hike to reach the top, but seriously incredible unobstructed views from the top. It felt like I was on another planet! I recommend this hike to all those who are adventurous and love the outdoors.

The trek is very beautiful and recommended. It is ok for hikers but for someone who don't use to hike it would be challenging, but totally worth it. When you get to the lake go to its other side, there is a wonderful view. Look...More

This is a beautiful alpine lake at 2100m. It was created as a result of glacial activity. It is a moderate hike from Papingo for hikers with some experience. It takes around 3hrs from the village to the refuge and another 1.30h to the lake...More

It's one of a kind place, unique!! It takes us approximately 5 hours to go by foot but it deserves it! We were swimming there and it was great!

A steep climb through the forest brings you above the tree line to the Astraka mountain lodge with fantastic views. You can then walk for about another hour to the Dragon lake - a beautiful walk with many wildflowers - orchids and electric-blue gentians. Great...More

If you stay in the area, I thing it is one of the hikkings you need to undertake. It is middle range of difficulty. It is managable also for the inexperienced. You need to calculate then the whole day. Start early and take many breaks...More

I am not a professional hiker nor am I a hiking enthusiast. The hike is tough and you must be prepared for a walk 5 hours up even though it states around 4. Did not use a hiking pole but I am sure it will...More
