A value for money tour only 45 minutes up the West Coast of Cape Town, where we visit a private game reserve, see 4 of the big 5 (everything except elephant) explore the historic town of Darling, sample craft beer, artisan cheeses, award winning wines and have lunch at the Iconic “Evita se Peron”. As if that is not enough, we also visit the Kwha Ittu Khoi San cultural village for an in depth look at the life of the Bushman, then and now. We end the day off at the “Blue Peter” on Blouberg beach with breath taking views of Table bay and Table Mountain.

We had an impromptu stop for a tasting at Darling Cellars on Sunday, 8 Nov 2020. We didn't expect much because we only knew the regular DC range for daily quaffing. It is challenging times due to Covid lockdowns and we were the only guests at the tasting room the entire time. The hostess was very friendly and presented us with a range of wines that we never knew existed. The heritage range is premium quality and the Gustus range is definitely worth buying. The cheese and meat platter that we ordered was more than enough and really scrumptious. We ended up buying much more than we planned and we're enjoying every drop.

Nicely set up smaller tasting room with a number of nice wines to taste. We bought 2 bottles of wine and an exceptionally good value 3 litre box of pinotage which we received 15% off as it was a Wednesday and we are pensioners!

This place probably works for people who want to pay 20ZAR (very reasonable) for 8 glasses of wine. Each tasting is the the size of a glass of wine in France. Ie larger than most! It’s like a very reasonably priced basic wine bar. Not a huge amount of atmosphere or history. There are better wine tasting experiences tbh.

Lovely location, great wine list at good prices and only R20 for any 8 wine tastings of your choice. The cheese and biltong platter was a bit bland and pricey.. otherwise an amazing experience!
