The team don’t only share facts about the wines… they tell stories with so much passion. They served us not like customers, but rather as family!

This was my husband and I’s first visit to South Africa and friends we were staying with recommended Cloof wines. We all decided to spend the afternoon there and booked a wine tasting, lunch and game drive. Cloof Wine Estate is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Cape Town and there are panoramic views over the vineyards, Burgherspost game reserve and mountains. When you arrive there is a long drive way leading to the Celler Door and Kitchen and we were lucky to see gorgeous chocolate brown cattle drinking from the lake by the drive. The pretty Weaver birds were flying around too.

The wine tasting was excellent and we enjoyed them all. The accompanying explanation on how they are made was very interesting and I understand they have won many awards over the last few years. It was amazing to learn that their grapes are all picked by hand! We each had our own favourites but mine were Duckitt Sauvignon Blanc and Sexy Shiraz. We ordered a selection of wines to take away and also a presentation gift box to give to our friends.

After the wine tasting the lovely Robyn served a tasty and generous cheese & charcuterie platter, a chicken & salad wrap and fried chicken pieces and chips. We had a good Bush Vines rose and a super Dark Side Cabernet Sauvignon to wash lunch down.

To end our afternoon Ederick, the Conservation Manager at Burherspost then took us out on a very interesting game drive where we learnt about their conservation work.

All in all a great way to spend an afternoon

Possibly the best picnic we’ve enjoyed on a wine farm. The basket for 2 was delicious -filled to the brim with freshly baked bread, a selection of meats, gourmet cheeses, spreads, salads & more, as well as a bottle of wine.

The staff were very friendly & knowledgeable & their wine recommendations were spot on - making the visit even more enjoyable.

We left very satisfied & relaxed with almost an entire cellar of wine for our own collection.

Definitely worth a visit! Can’t wait to return!

Peaceful surroundings just outside Darling. The wine.... oh the wine!! Did the Wine and Toffee pairing. Even the toffees - proud product of Darling. The very Sexy Shiraz with liquorice toffee. The Dark Side with Tannie Evita's Classic Toffee. I can't choose a favourite! Very friendly staff and well priced wine.

Was welcomed to a lovely warm and well laid out tasting room. Lovely decor and friendly staff. Wine is well priced. A true gem in the hill side. The Sexy Shiraz was easy drinking wine and the gift pack was well worth the price

Good Morning Brian, Thank you for your comments and for visiting Cloof Wine Estate. We have been undergoing a handful of changes within the tasting room specifically over the last few weeks and have actually completed an entirely new look and feel, including brand new furniture and a sound system. Our beautiful new layout provides ample space for both sitting and standing options for our Wine Tastings as well as pre-booked lunches. You will also be treated to monthly onsite specials hosted by Nokkie, our newly trained Tasting Room assistant. We do apologize for any inconveniences caused during this transitional time and do hope that you can visit with us again soon, as we would love to hear your feedback on our new look, feel and other changes. We look forward to spoiling you! Best Regards Lester Marketing & Communication CLOOF WINE ESTATE
