Great hike with scenery varying between open beaches, dunes, forest and rivers. There is quite a bit of beach walking - be prepared. Route is very well marked and the huts are all very well appointed, hot showers are possible every night. Thanks Dave, we...More

I hiked the Shipwreck hike with a group of friends ranging from first timers to experienced, fit and not so fit hikers just before Christmas. We opted for the 6 day hike including the overnight canoe trail. Unfortunately we ended up not able to paddle...More

This hike was an awesome experience for all of us. We did the 6 day shipwreck trail including 2 days canoeing in a group of 6 (2 teenagers, 3 experienced hikers and 1 whose last hike was many years ago;-) and all of us enjoyed...More

Highly recommended trail for anyone interested in nature. The paths are interesting, some even through a game park, and the huts are comfortable and mostly picturestque.

Every hut a surprise. Great to be in the eastern cape bush. Beautiful riperian vegetation. Grey blue sea. So worth it. Not too tough. Hard days followed by easy days. Great places to cook. Lots of spiders.

I walked the first three days of the trail and slept at the Milkwood Hut, the Tree House and then decided to call it a day when I saw the state of the hut at Three Sisters. The trail itself meanders through really spectacular and...More

We stayed at Belle Vue house and then hiked up the river valley to Nyala reserve (because the river had come down in flood) and overnighted at Lily Pad hut. It was mid winter, but warm enough for our two families. Facilities are basic (e.g....More

Our party of 8 (aged 20-60) had an absolutely wonderful experience on this hike. All of us were totally inexperienced hikers and some were definately in the unfit category - but all completed the hike without undue strain. The weather was very kind to us...More

My family and I had done the one day trail, 8km canoe trip and 4km hike to where we were staying. We seen giraffes, nyla and zebras at the dam. It was very adventurous and we will most likely be back.

Thinking back, none of us had any concerns with animals at Lilypad, or any of the other huts (except one night, at Three Sisters, there was a startle with an equally startled mouse the middle of the night). Lilypad might... More
