A highlight of the trip. The children had hummingbirds land on their finger to drink from the feeder. Beautiful gardens as well.

The Selvatura Park has many offerings for travellers and botany enthusiasts, and the Butterfly Garden is worth including on your visit. With plenty of flowers and a variety of butterflies, it's an interesting and educational place to experience the unique nature in the area.

Mostly Blue Morpho and Owl butterflies here. These types of butterflies are easily spotted in the area. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about butterflies. We paid $10 pp for the 1/2 hour tour/guide, you have to go with a guide to visit the butterfly garden. There is also a frog/reptile area, ziplines and hanging bridges here. It pretty warm inside the greenhouse where the butterflies live.

Only two butterflies were seen in this large quonset hut - Owl Moth and Blue Morpho. The tour guide was okay, but it was not really worth the time or money. More information could have been communicated about the plants inside.

Disappointing. When we were there, there were very few butterflies. I have been to other butterfly gardens which had them flying all over, many varieties. Since butterflies have such a short life, possibly we were there at the wrong time? Also our guide did not provide much information about the types or life of butterflies. On a positive note, the gardens were very beautiful with many unique flowers. Our tour included the hummingbird garden and hanging bridges as well so our overall experience at the park was positive. But if you are thinking of only doing the butterfly garden there may be better choices.

We loved this tour. We didn't do the zipline because of ages of our kids. We did butterflies and canopy tour in gondolas. It was excellent and we really enjoyed it.

We took a 20 minutes afternoon drive on some terrible roads (the Costa Rican massage as its called) to go into a large greenhouse which had very nice plants, a loud Maccaw and almost no butterflies.
To be fair, the first thing the guide told us was its better to come in the morning. The butterflies are more active. Well, I guess we should have known that....
If you are there for other activities, I suppose its interesting to go into this facility but don't make the trip for this one activity.

The guide was awful. There were only 4 persons in our group and he did not even wait for every one to join him before he speaks. He kept on rushing forward as if he wanted to get done with the tour. It took all of 20 minutes for him to finish. Totally not worth it.

We paid 35 dollars for the butterflygarden and the reptiles. We had a guide running in front of us yawning and after 10 minutes he told us we had to leave for the reptile tour. Not worth the money!!!
