The museum is really nice and shows local artists or artists who painted in this region. The staff was extremely helpful. I could have spend hours there talking to one of the guides. The location is beautiful and there is a small but very relaxing garden where you can get a coffee behind the museum.

The artworks come largely from an artists' colony based here in the early 20th century - the artists concerned (many of them women) were not wildly experimental, but some stand out as very talented. The museum makes a pleasurable, if not inspiring visit and the introductory film is worth seeing. Amazing really that such a tiny place can offer visitors such a fine building and exhibition; all credit to Ahrenshoop.
