We camped at Mount Currie for one night with a tent. The sites are next to the dam. We heard the frogs from sunset to sunrise; they were quite loud but we enjoyed it. The bathrooms were clean and there is one basin for dishes and one for laundry.

I spent a morning walking through this resort and up to the foot of Mount Currie just taking in the sights and sounds of the surroundings. I walked past some Blesbok casually grazing on the slopes and was greeted by some flowering Proteas at the summit.

Stayed here overnight in our motorhome. Access is down a turnoff to the Research Centre and then along a fair (but corrugated) 5 km dirt road which all vehicles can manage slowly. Excellent price for 2 SA pensioners of R 110 p.d. total and serene dam and hill views with pleasant walks in the area. Pay cash on arrival at the gate (6am to 6pm). Hot water was not that warm (middle of winter!) but have experienced much worse ablutions which are clean and functional.

With some wild life, and a variety of wild flowers, as well as the beautiful mountains and a spectacular view, there is also the Crystal Springs Dam. Beautiful nature. :)

It was a wet cold hazy day with not much to be seen. If the day was brighter, a good picnic could have been had at the waters edge.
