The Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium with the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world. Throughout, its seating is big and soft. It has been called luxurious. It is better. It is civilized. It reminds us of what we have long stopped expecting from public buildings.

A very quirky style cinema with tables downstairs and big seats in the circle. You can take your drinks in and enjoy a really quirky cinema experience. I really liked it. It's like a throw back to the early days of film. Can't honestly remember...More

This had got to be the best place to see a film. Comfortable and spacious seating, lovely art deco style interior, very good sound and acoustics and unrestricted vision from all seats. This a great place to see a film. I highly recommend it.

I visited today with my elderly mum and sister. What a gem. I’ve heard good things about The Rex, but only managed to visit today due to a day off and expecting rain, so took advantage. I can’t believe I waited so long. It’s beautiful...More

We ended up stumbling across this venue quite by chance; despite working in the film industry myself and living in nearby Hemel Hempstead, I've somehow never heard of this cinema before but am so glad I know it now! I usually go to the Everyman...More

There's no better place to enjoy a film. Gorgeous surroundings, comfortable seats and great films. A star cinema.

Have wanted to visit for ages and finally was able to. Loved the décor, the space around the tables and the ability to head to the bar and order drinks and snacks. Cheese plate is great too. Had a table for 4 and the atmosphere...More

A frequent visitor to both the Rex and the Odyssey will now not go anywhere else to see a film. All cinemas should be like this

The old cinema back to its former glory. Great "old cinema" surroundings with modern touches (like a bar and pretty decent projection).

Very civilised. Can have a drink in the bar and in the cinema. Seats comfy and lots of leg room. Unfortunately did not enjoy the film.

Came here recently to see the Greatest Showman. Location is great with plenty of parking options around. Building is quirky and the wine and cheese platter is definitely worth a try. Seats are comfy and luxurious leather style making the whole experience more grand. The...More

Just have to keep trying, there are 3 persons at the box office, usually having to sell on door, print tickets for those collecting, take calls and general enquiries......so be patient

We park at the other end of Berkhampsted in the car park next to Waitrose. Then walk up through the High Street. Always found a space and charges are reasonable.
