About
There are many wonderful hikes that start from Tegwaan Country Getaway! All the routes are along the edge of the escarpment with beautiful views into the Elands Valley. Many of them go to or by waterfalls! Our most popular are: - Stone Circle Loop (3.5km round trip) – follow yellow feet, bear right at first split in the trail - Boven Vista Viewpoint (5km there and back) – follow yellow feet to blue feet, and then follow the signs to Boven Vista - Valley View (5km there and back) – follow yellow feet, to blue feet, then follow signs to Valley View. - Rock Fairies Waterfall (10km there and back) – Download All Trails and search for the “Rock Fairies Waterfall” hike - Rocky Drift (10km there and back) – follow yellow feet, to blue feet and then follow the signs to Rocky Drift. Call ahead to book a table if you want to eat lunch!

The hike was amazing. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it. Our doggo Nate absolutely loved it too. Would definitely recommend this hike for anyone especially those hiking with the dogs. Best dog friendly hike I’ve been on so far.

At the recommendation of a colleague of mine, we decided to do a long weekend at Tegwaan and are so glad we did. We were greeted with excitement by the owners' dogs who led us to the main house where the owners live. The owners, Renia and Balthazar, and their kids are great hosts. We stayed at the Pine Cabin which we loved as it was set apart from the other cabins in a little pine grove next to the stream. The cabin is rustic but super cozy with three bedrooms, a well stocked kitchen and a huge, comfy couch across from the fireplace. We’d build a fire every night and curl up together to read books or play games. Coming from Pretoria, we loved the peace and quiet and slept well in the cozy beds with electric mattress pads. I imagine it can be really cold in the cabin in the midst of winter. The kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourself which you should plan to do as there really aren't any restaurants worth visiting in Boven. We enjoyed the fresh eggs and the lemons that were left for us. There is no generator, no TV, no Wi-Fi, and very limited cell signal. We didn’t mind very much as there were games to play, a scavenger hunt for kids (with real treasure), an outdoor patio with a picnic table, hiking trails, a swimming pool, playground, etc. The dogs greeted us every morning and took walks with us. My son loved hanging out with the owners kids while I enjoyed a yoga session under the trees which Renia leads every Sunday at 9am. We spent a few hours doing the Stone Circle hike which is a great way to see the stone circles, the escarpment, a little waterfall, and the fascinating flora. Renia and Balthazar were great in providing recommendations on things to see and do including the monthly farmers market. They work hard to contribute to the town and make it a better place for everyone. Consider this for your next escape from the city. It will do you good.

Wonderfully friendly hosts and a lovely hike offered despite not staying there. NO charge and really an unexpected activity that was worth every minute. Be sure to take your costume to be able to enjoy the waterfall.

The house where we stayed was under pine trees. There is a water stream nearby and the sound of water eased our mind. The environment is full of green and it was so refreshing. The owner of the place is a couple who are very warm and friendly. The information book of nearby places helped us to spend the wonderful 3 days+.

For me, going to Tegwaan Getaway and discovering the trails was amazing. Tegwaan is owned by long-time wonderful friends and spending time there, climbing and going on trails from their lodge is really relaxing and beautiful. The trails are easily walkable which is great when you have a four-year old with magnificent views. I just can say: go there and experience it yourself! It is worth it each step of the way!

The trails at Tegwaan are absolutely gorgeous! Well-maintained, gorgeous views, and a nice mix of gentle flats to moderate inclines, with the occasional small scramble (depending on your route).

Discovered this hidden germ by accident when looking for a parking spot to climb at Restaurant Crag. Owners were lovely, I wish we had spent the night at Tegwaan Country Getaway. Great climbing at Restaurant Crag, followed by Stone Circle Loop, beautiful hike!

Awesome, well maintained trails across Mpumalanga veld, winding past ancient stone circles and taking in views of waterfalls and rivers off cliff edges. Tegwaan farm offers a great departure and return point, and you can check in with the owners to use their fresh water swimming pool or take a refreshing swim in one of the farm dams.

Awesome area to explore especially when done on some well built trails. Wander past pools and waterfalls , head up to some climbing crags. A unique mix of vegetation, birdlife. Tranquility at its best.
