Beautiful old buildings that have been restored and looked after for many generations. So interesting that these buildings have lasted so long and have rebelled so many invaders.

Built in 1462 by Fatih Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror and used in the defence of the Gallipoli peninsula in 1915. Has undergone restoration and looks fabulous from the outside. Unfortunately it has yet to be opened to the public for internal tours which the guard...More

A beautiful castle, but at the moment, not open for public. There is a small museum nearby, also in a former fortress, but only in Turkish and not that impressive...

When walking and visiting these sites you feel very strange. All countries participated in the war lost so many soldiers. Very very young soldiers.

Its nice to catch the ferry over and have a walk around. There are some signs but they are old and have faded. There is a really nice ice cream place next to the ferry though.

It was built in 1461. Opposite of this castle, there is another castle named Cimenlik and was built in 1462. Both of them were responsible of protection of Istanbul. This castle was structured of union of three crescent (new moon)(look Ottoman flag). We couldn't visit...More
