We took out mountain bikes and had fun taking advantage of the ride up on the cable way and riding down. We were super impressed with the covid protocol - in fact the best we've seen from large operators during Covid. Made us feel very safe and relaxed. Social distancing in queues, you don't share your cable car with strangers and cars are fogged each time passengers exit. HUGE effort, expense and discipline employed by the operators to maintain this standard - it is greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work guys in providing fun, safe, outdoor activities during these strange times.

We had a lovely time there, but I wish to kindly apologize to the owner of the top premises, we are a small group of Ham Radio licensed operators, and were not aware we needed to ask permission first, as there was no indication in any broucher, to do so. We were as unobtrusive as playing kids, playing in the park.
During the rain yesterday we moved into the main shelter and set up our radio's without interphering or being a nuisance to anyone. The place was about 98% empty and we were kindly asked to stop using our radios . Which we did and packed up. At this point we had spent over R1000 on food, which did not count towards being quiet and independent. We would love the owner to contact us, or we contact him to explain our cause, and above all ask for permission in the future. I can be contacted via email on zs6msw@gmail.com or cell 083 337 6609. We hope sincerely to
get a positive out come as we intend to support your business in the future, I certainly think there was a miss understanding of our intentions. Regards Mike ZS6MSW

On the day before Christmas my Sister-in -Laws and I decide to take a drive out to Harties. It was a beautiful day after long periods of rain and just the perfect day to go up the Cableway. Bought tickets easily enough, caught the car without much of a wait and the view was lovely on the way up. We decided to have a milkshake at the restaurant at the bottom, service was a tad slow but nothing too drastic. The coffee milkshakes were delicious.
We then did the small circular walk with the various viewpoints and information boards which we found very informative and the view from the top is spectacular.
We decided to have beer and pizza at the top restaurant and boy was that slow. There were not enough people serving behind the counter, their credit card machines were not receiving signal and the pizzas just backed up because of the number of people who had arrived for lunch. It was a bit of a train smash and I felt very sorry for them.
But once we received our pizzas( they were very good)and beers and settled under the umbrellas, all was forgotten to the tunes of the marimba band who had started playing.
All in all a really lovely day out, especially if the weather is good and it’s a clear day

This was my second time at the aerial cableway,
The queues were so long with absolutely no social distancing and some customers not wearing masks and consuming alcohol in the queue.
We waited almost 2 hours before we got into the cable car. I feel that management are just concerned with making sales without much regard for covid 19 regulations.
Once we got to the front of the queue safety protocols were observed and witnessed the sanitizing of all cable cars before customers get in.
The ride to the top was amazing! The views from the mountain are breathtaking, we had a great time.
We then had to wait over an hour in long queues again to go down.

Initial covid screening took longer than at most places.
Not allowed to take picknick basket up.
Self service restaurant at top and pizza shack.
Also an ice cream/slush puppy kiosk that was way less busy than pizza shack to get something to drink.
Only card facilities at top. No cash.
Pizza was good quality.
Prices reasonable and comparable to any restaurant in the area.
Kids facilities were good. Large shaded play area with sandpit. 2 jumping castles.my 2 five year olds loved the ammenities.
Enough shaded seating for eating. Only 2 bean bag seating on grass but ample space on grass. If planning to stay long, wiuld reccomend bringing picnic blanket and own umbrella/pip up gazebo.
Take note! Exposed cliff for parasailing a bit dangerous if kids left unattended.

The ride with the cable car is a captivating experience, once you on top of the mountain the breathtaking views does not disappoint, their is also interesting information along the pathway. However it all fell flat at 360 Degrees restaurant. We place our order right after our friends, but by the time they were done eating their breakfast we still waited for ours, we had to ask a couple of time for it. We realize that their was a mix up when people that order after us received their food. Apart form waiting so long the breakfast that I paid R115 for was the biggest disappointment of the day, The few steak strip and sauce was not to bad, but this is where it ends on my plate was a whole raw chopped onion -yes I know this sounds unbelievable, I honestly don't know what the point if this was - was this supposed to be a salad really? They also put a sliced of white bread with no butter on my plate after my husband told them that I don't eat bread. The mince on my husbands panini was oily and uneatable. My friends omelette was an flat bland excuse for breakfast. Only the egg benedict was ok. I am one of those people that don't mind paying for good service and food, I rather pay more, but for this they should have paid me - extremely disappointed in 360 Degrees.

Beautiful birthday experience. We visited on my birthday and was very special more so because my ticket was free. Weather was clear and perfect to take in the views. At the top you can enjoy a meal with a view, enjoy some quiet time to reflect or the business at the bar. Everywhere is maintained and so clean and neat. Definitely worth a visit at least once and such a quick scenic drive from. Pretoria or Jhb

From the moment we arrived we were most impresed by the great service and over all experience. We arrived on a Tuesady morning at 09h00 and the propery was spotless, public bathrooms at the bottom and top part clean, staff with big warm smiles ready to serve. We were very fortunate to have had a lovely clear day rewarding us with a lovely view. The Dassie trail was well marked with intresring information. The resturants were priced fair and the coffee was of good quality. We enjoyed a light meal and some sparkling wine. This was the best service and most plesant suprise we had in our 3 day visit in Brits/ Harties. Great work Cable Way team, Table Mountain can learn from you !

We decided to treat our 2 nieces to the cable car on Jan 1st. We got there as they opened and there d no line for tickets or the actual ride. Before we got there I thought the price was a little steep for a family, but once there I felt that it was money well spent. The facilities are modern, clean, well set out and maintained. The staff were plentiful and very professional. At the kids zone at the top there was 2 jumping castles set up for the children to use in addition to the play area. Our nieces had a great day out and were very happy. I did not think the prices of the food at the resturants were too excessive either. I highly recommend this as a great family outing.

A trip to Harties is worth it . Less than a hours drive from Johannesburg. Lots to do . The cable way is beautiful well organized . You just need an hour if you just want to go up ,do one walk around and then come down again . The views are beautiful and you can read a bit about the history of the area . You can have a meal when you get up the mountain.

Do you need to book tickets in advance for the cableway, or are tickets available there?

Both options are available but I would suggest booking online if you intend visiting during a busy period.

Is there adequate seating and shade or should I bring an umbrella and camp chairs? Is it cold up there - going in August some time, and don't wanna freeze.
Written 1 August 2016
Yes there is adequate seating shade need to get there early ,you can also book a gazebo, depending on the weather but it was a warm day when we went and it was warm up at the top. Enjoy it is worth it.

How long should I allow for a mid week visit to the cable car
Written 20 March 2016
If you travel from Pretoria you can get there under 1 hour. They should bot be as busy in mid week (unless public holiday) Allow for at least 1 hour in top. With the up and down trip allow 4 hours. Try to be there before 10:00 meaning you can leave Pretoria or Johannesburg after peak traffic and be back before afternoon traffic
