The area around the dam wall is very unkempt and untidy, however the views of the water are well worth a stop.

Great place to visit. Great views. Monkeys on the way there. Easy parking and historical site. Lots of information provided by tourist guide.

You have to pick where you park very carefully and be lucky. Both sides of the robots packed with the usual touts but in mega strength. Pick the parking spot next to the tunnel entrance room for three cars - hence the lucky comment. Need...More

The dam is a nice to see and there are many boat tours operated in the area. If you have young kids, I recommend the slower longer cruise but there are jet skis and high speed cruises for thrill seekers

Hartbeespoort is within an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria with beautiful nature and lots to do for couples or families.

Whether you're boating, fishing, site seeing or campimg, hartebeestpoort dam does not disappoint. Fascinating location. Clean and welcoming. Good restaurants and a definite tourist eye catcher.

There is accommodation all around the dam. The best would be to search for the best one depending on your budget requirements. Ty different websites.
