The dam has quite a story and I don't think enough is made of that. The water hyacinth problem needs to be addressed as it detracts from a great spectacle. We did get caught in a traffic jam at the dam wall and the lights...More

Close to pretoria and johannesburg but just far enough away too! Popular weekend away spot. Gets busy over weekends. Make sure you cross the dam wall to get the view - although at times there can be a que.

Beautiful area. Found in the Hartbeespoort area close to many attractions. The dam itself is currently not at its best but the view still remains breathtaking. Great spots all around to capture that perfect sunset.

Basically a good experience with very good accommodating marimba band at entrance and good variety of goods on sale but some harassment by stall owners/sales people. Trying all sorts of techniques on selling goods not always honest. I suppose everyone there wants to share in...More

Since the corrupt local authorities allowed hyacinth plants to multiply the dam resembles the Sargasso sea. Sailing and power boats are trapped in their moorings and water skiing has been abandoned.

I have a Holiday home just on the dam in an estate and always enjoy visiting the dam. The best view is when you come over the hill facing pecan wood Estate for me and then crossing over to our side of the dam-absolute beauty...More

There is no entrance fee to see the dam. There are boat rides that are offered by private operators at their rates. You can find out more details on Google.

There is accommodation all around the dam. The best would be to search for the best one depending on your budget requirements. Ty different websites.

There is no entrance fee to walk on the dam wall but if you want to sail on the dam you must pay the tour guides.
