After the good rain our family stopped to take a look at the waterfall. Since we have three small children we were careful about the surroundings but was not scared. There is a walking trail on the outside if you do not want to take the dark tunnel. It was awesome to had stopped there after roughly 25 years.

A security guard would help as I can understand some people might be scared to stop in small groups. The site was very clean.

Cannot believe the railways was such state of the art!
Fantastic to experience yesterday, today.
Congrats to the people that still maintain their 60+ year old houses and gardens!

Couldn't get to the waterfall - dodgy surroundings and dark tunnel to walk through. Please make it more accessible, maybe with security and paypoint??!

Beautiful views, place looks very unsafe with too many doggy characters milling around.
Better to travel in a group

Visited the falls today & weren’t keen to walk through the old & very dark railway tunnel. We walked back through the road tunnel instead & took the footpath back towards the railway tunnel to find the turning to the viewing platform. If you’re in the area worth the 15 min walk to see the falls but wouldn’t make a special trip to see it.

There were two lady police officers at the bridge who were extremely unfriendly and when asked where the falls were asked for a tip. You then walk through a dark tunnel for about 250m and finally come to the falls. Some of the barrier Poles are missing and there were a few undesirables hanging about giving us very strange looks. My husband says they were eying my camera bag and nudging each other while I took photos. Not a place to go if you are not in a big group.

On Arrival we were the only visitors. Know that from the parking place you have to go through a dark former railway tunnel so flashlight is necessary. Just be aware that te site is not so well maintained, the security rail at the viewing platform was damaged as we visited, so beware when visiting with smaller children. The river was really full because it must have rained up river and if it should be confirmed it started rumbling in the distance, dark clouds were closing in. So we made our pictures and went back to the car, just in time before the heavy rainfall accompanied by a harsch thunderstorm pulled in.

Beautiful River fall, you park infront of the tunnel designated stop area and it takes a walk down of approximately 200m through the old tunnel to the waterfalls. Its dark in the tunnel a flashlight is advantageous.

Great experience. as we went after the rains, the waterfall was overfilled with water and powerful. We have done abseiling down the waterfall and climbed back. Fantastic experience!

On the cautious side, the waterfall is positioned in the very rural area, hence it surrounding don't come across as the safest place in the world. So, take in into consideration when planning your trip.

It is easy to miss the turn off to the waterfall since there are no signs at all. Secondly what is left of the presumed curio shop, is a disgrace. Thirdly, the area is unsafe, with no security, no tourism official of any sorts in sight. As a SA citizen, I was ashamed to think a potential tourism attraction like this has been abondened by Mpumalanga tourism. In the end I could not risk taking my family to see what is described as one of the most beautiful waterfalls. I don't know what tourists would think, although they would not even know it's there.
