Superb beach, clean, easy nearby parking, showers & toilets nearby, plus a couple of bars / cafes that do simple food & snacks. No shade on the beach (there may be during the peak season).
The beach slopes gently to the sea. The sea is shallow to 3m out, when there is a shelf beyond which it drops to 1.5m (approx.) deep, the it gets gently deeper

This is the largest of the two Castro Urdiales beaches but Playa Brazomar at the other end of town is by far the better, being cleaner, more gentrified and has a nice park at the far end. The sand here at Ostende beach is of the coarse/sharp type and looks suspiciously like builders sand. It’s also the scruffy end of town and like the beach, it looks run down. The promenade trail goes round the far headland towards the cemetery and although you get good views back towards the church and castle, it doesn’t make up for the overpowering smell of dog mess - not helped by men pausing to urinate. About 2/3 of the way along the beach is a dividing rock (Punte Estebanot) and you can walk on the grassed top. The leisure centre located along the far end is a blot on the landscape and personally I can’t find anything to recommend.
