It's clearly the main monument in Potes, standing out above the cute little houses packed in tiny streets.

Inside comes as a shock, because it has been restored and turned into a very modernist museum, all glass and steel. Attractive, mind you.

The exhibitions are strikingly presented, worth visiting just for the visual impact. But the creme de la creme is the very top floor, where you go outside and walk around the battlements, getting a 360 degree view of the town and beautiful countryside.

Look down from the top to spot which bar/restaurant you're going to sit in and have lunch.

TIP 1: Large carpark on the S side of town - but packed on Saturdays for market day

TIP 2: There are good lavatories in the tower.

We visited the Torre two weeks ago while we were staying in Potes. It was a hot afternoon and we wandered in to see what it was like. The receptionists wee delightful and let us in as a family of four even though the are five of us and our eldest son is over 18. The exhibition of illuminated manuscripts was superb, the tower immaculately kept and the experience overall pretty good and, considering everything, cheap at a few euros.

El Torre del Infantado is in the very centre of the town of Potes, you cannot miss it. Only €3 entry. Although nothing is written in English it is still worth a visit if you are strolling by. It showcases the history of the written biblical work of the ancient monks. It is not about Potes, rather it focuses on the work of local monastic scribes in years gone by. Views from the roof platform are worth the entry fee alone.

Fascinating exhibitions; particularly if you have some knowledge of The Book of Revelation. We have no Spanish so was great fun working out what was going on. Only had to resort to Google Translate once.
Quizzes and interactive displays.
Great view from the top.
All in all a good way to spend an hour or so on a dampish afternoon in Potes. And for only 3 euros each.

The tower although old on the outside, has more of a modern look on the inside. It sits beside the San Cayetano bridge. When we entered the tower, it was nearly closing time, but the ladies overseeing the tower, museum let us in for a few moments to check it out for free. I believe the admission is not very expensive, otherwise but it was very nice of them to do that. We didn't stay long, so we didn't get to see everything the site had to offer but what we did see, we enjoyed - there was an exhibition taking place. We also enjoyed strolling through town, which was very close to where we were staying in Cosgaya. It is also very close to Fuente de where we took the funincular up the mountain. The bridge was also interesting, and there were some lovely shops, grocery stores in town selling local foods, ciders, some crafts, some souvenirs and a decent grocery store. All in all a very pleasant time there, and loved the hospitality, and scenery. We really enjoyed the character of the town, the farming in the area and friendly community.

In the Torre del Infantado in Potes houses an exhibition based on the Commentary on the Apocalypse, a collection of illuminated manuscripts by an 8th century monk, Beatus of Liebana. The exhibition is amazingly well done, using modern technology to provide an inspiring understanding of the meaning and the impact of the Commentary. The art is magnificent. Although the experience is entirely different from, say, the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, it is equally awe-inspiring.

3euro to go in, nice view over town. There is not really much to see in the tower itself apart from a few exhibitions which are meh but the building itself is pretty good. An oasis in a strange little town which outside of a small touristic area seems pretty scruffy and neglected, or maybe that is just me?

They have an interesting exhibition about a monk who wrote about or illustrated the Book of Revelation. The display boards are all in Spanish, which I had fun attempting to translate but without some Spanish, it wouldn't mean much.

There's a great view from the top.
