As members, we stopped here on our way back up North after visiting family in Warrington as it's not too far off the M6 which was ideal. It was Bank Holiday Monday and very hot so it was quite busy but not unbearably so. We...More

Rufford Old Hall is a National Trust property in Lancashire which was built in 1530 by Sir Robert Hesketh. Only the impressive Great Hall survives from the original building. A brick-built wing in the Jacobean style was added in 1661, at right angles to the...More

We called in midweek in early May on a bright, sunny afternoon. It wasn't very busy but that could be because there had been heavy rain in the morning which may have put people off visiting. We were greeted by a friendly volunteer on arrival...More

This property shows vividly if one can use their imagination just how the house was run in the Tudor times, made all the more realistic by the excellent narratives given by the volunteers. No pictures can be taken in the house due to the contract...More

The volunteers were all very informative, helpful and engaging. I went on a sunny day, so spent some time walking around the garden. This was well maintained and picturesque. The house itself was also well maintained with many interesting items arranged in each room. There...More

As someone else has said, I think it is due to some of the items not being owned by the property. The photography issue regarding flash is valid but they usually say just don't use a flash.
