This is well worth visiting if you are in Cologne. For perspective, prior to German unification, while the German Federal Capitol was Bonn, Schloss Augustusburg was where most of the receptions and state dinners for visiting heads of state were held. The building is incredibly...More

My husband and I wanted a fairly easy thing to do/see from Cologne. This was perfect. It was a short train ride to Bruhl and a short walk to the palace. We paid for a tour of both the palace and the hunting lodge. Yes,...More

As soon as you enter the palace you will be impressed with the magnificience of the whole structure. The walls, floors, and staircase are beyond words. This is a must see. We had an English speaking guide that went over time because she had so...More

It’s a short train ride from Cologne and is definitely worth the visit. The palace is directly in front of the station so is extremely easy to find. The palace and its grounds are lovely. They offer tours of the palace. The day I went...More

So you are required to take a guided tour (in German). You get an audio guide but the actual guide spoke much more about things in each room - very frustrating not getting the whole story! Also I photos allowed

We had a great tour of this palace and the hunting palace. Our tour guide shared lots about the palace, and lots about what we saw in each and every room. It was impressive to know and understand how they lived so many years ago....More

Another must see attraction when visiting Cologne is the UNESCO Bruhl Augustusburg Palace. It was the estate residence of the prince-archbishop of Cologne. It illustrates the power held by the religious head of the church during the medieval times. The palace is elegantly impressive especially...More

Its a magnificent complex, not Versilles or Schonbrunn but diffidently would recommend if it wouldn't be for the horrendous tour, tours are frequent and cheap, I remember 8euros, access is from the train station via the very nice gardens. Tours are in German so auto...More

Great tour. The architecture is incredible. And the gardens are beautiful. The guide was very entertaining and informative. But for the size of the castle, wish we had been allowed to see more rooms. Make sure you select a tour time in the appropriate language.
