We have visited here many times and love the fete du Jardin in early August. However we go to see the Rapunzel towers regularly with friends and family. The moat is full of carp and the atmosphere is magical, we love it here.More

Thank you for your comment. Happy to see you come back regularly ! The octogonal tower is that of the fairy Andaine and not the princess Rapunzel. Maybe they could have been friends ! You can follow actualities on our official website chateaugratot.com or our...More

The part of it is in ruins, but it easy to imagine how beautiful this Château was before. The oldest part dated to XIII century. Definitely visit this Château if you are in the area.

This delightful Chateau really is a hidden Gem. This is a proper bit of history and culture ideal for all groups. My two young daughters absolutely loved climbing the towers.

Stumbled across this ruin whilst out driving and loved it! Felt like a real hidden away ruin full of history and energy. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a charming Chateau from the 13th century. It was exactly what I have been searching for....true history set in quiet, beautiful surroundings with very few tourist (we saw about 4 other people). Although small it is a lovely place to explore and reflect.

The eighteenth century castle Château de Gratuit is surrounded by a water channel. But in fact there are remains of the castle. We did not have enough information about this place, so we were hoping to visit the medieval castle, not its ruins. Despite this,...More

Lovely ruined castle with a moat. You can climb up the tower and get beautiful views. It's just outside the cathedral town of Coutances.

This place is easier to find than we had expected! Near the village of Gratot, 4k north west of Coutances, the towers are easy to spot from the road. There's a large free car park, toilets, reception with multi-lingual guides and an admission charge of...More
