Carel took my daughter & I out for 2 early morning dives at windmill today, it was brilliant. Carel is extremely knowledgeable of the area & conditions, and even more so of the sea life. He is clearly a very experienced diver/dive guide, and very sensible & safety conscious. The dive itself was great (our first in false bay) but was made even better thru his local knowledge (and a freakish ability to spot stuff). We needed full gear hire and the equipment is in good condition/ well maintained (and enough for extra layers…). The hot chocolate rocks too. It was altogether a great experience for my daughter & I, and we will definitely be back. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Carel’s other services on future trips.

We spent around one week with Carel touring Cape Town as a family with 2 kids age 8 & 13 ,we had an amazing time from the moment Carel picked us up from the airport until he dropped us to fly back back to Johannesburg & we could see how passionate he was about his country .
He customized a tour for us that includes the garden route ,advised us on hotel booking with several options & many of them were so unique that we would not have known about ,we started from Cape Town ,went to boulders beach and the other touristy places in Cape Town ,then passed by Hermanus for whales watching ,when we arrived to wilderness the Mosselbay zip line was closed due to the weather conditions but when he saw that we were disappointed he did not stop ,he took us to do Paragliding ,the next day he changed the plan so we can go back to do the Zip-line ,we saw & did so many things that we could not have done without him ,we visited farm stalls ,an Original Aloe Vera factory ,where we bought many original products with cheap prices ,we ate in so many great restaurants with his recommendations ,we did the Congo caves, slept in an Ostrich farm ,tried the Ostrich meat for the first time ,we ended our tour with 2 nights in Franschhoek where he took us to wine ,beer ,chocolates ,olives and olive oil tasting.
He was very patient with our kids ,taught my youngest how to fish ,created activities for them so they won’t be bored ,oh and I forgot to add he is a great photographer .
I was even looking for African cups that I could not find anywhere ,he went out of his way and went in his personal rest time and found it for me .
Thank you Carel for showing us Cape Town the way you did as it would not have been the same without you ,we will be coming back again .
Highly recommended if you want a special tour for Cape Town and the surrounding areas .

Good day Suzan and family
Wow what a hefty review. Thank you for all the praise. Always nice to able to show you and the family some of the highlights of our wonderful Cape Town area plus you guys made my passion even easier with being open minded and wanting to see and experience as much as possible.
Cant wait to show you more on your return and next time hopefully make it up fully onto table mountain with incredible views, Khal might need to keep his eyed closed;-).
Regards and thank you again for being great guests on tour.

The best dive experience you could ask for. Carel was incredible from being communicative with booking, transport, the diving, the services and support with the diving and gear, and even snacks.
Highly recommend diving with Carel. The diving was spectacular, and the service around it all is exactly, or more than you could even hope it would be.

Carel is an outstanding and friendly tour guide. We couldn't be happier with, or wanted anything more from, our six days of tours with Carel. This was the perfect amount of time to visit key spots in Cape Town, Cape Agulhas, and visit many wineries on the Cape.

My partner and I traveled from the States to spend a week in Cape Town, primarily interested in diving, and looking for a bit of local flavor as well. We found Carel on TripAdvisor and were very happy with our choice. Carel was our personal escort for shore diving as well as several outings on on a lovely dive charter (the Seahorse), and when the weather was unfavorable (2 days of our visit) he took us for land tours, one of which was a safari. He was knowledgeable about local history and wildlife, ready for any activity, always thinking ahead (he even brought along a pillow on one of the tours so we could nap in the car while jet-lagged) and always prepared with snacks on hand. While diving, Carel pointed out lots of critters and stayed close while letting us set the direction according to our interests. He recommended a nice hotel and took care of washing and drying our gear at night. As an extra stroke of luck he introduced us to a local naturalist on one of the charters, and we even saw some rare sea swallow nudibranchs on a surface interval! We had a little trouble with a bag arriving late and of course Carel was at the ready to help us with transportation and logistics to pick it up. Even when we were tired at the end of a long day Carel was a professional and reassuring presence. Overall it was a great visit and we owe it to our fabulous tour guide who took care of all the details.
Some notes for greenhorns like me:
- If you are susceptible to motion sickness, be aware that the surge in False Bay is like nothing else I've experienced in the world -- you will need Bonine or the like.
- It can be cold on a safari. For real. Also you need a lens > 200 mm.
- "Carel" is pronounced like "Carl".

Carel cares about his visitors and is really interested to make you feel comfortable. He arranges the trip taking care of your personal wishes and needs. Four of us went diving, a teen, two young grown ups and their father and everyone was really happy after the trip!
Carel manages everything in an uncomplicated, easy going, but sensitive way, so you just feel fine!
A long, long way, but we will be back!

Another year and another fantastic away dive trip with Dive Inn.....
This time we were treated to the warm clear waters of Sodwana Bay. Trip was well organised ran smoothly and Carel even got the weather correct !!. A huge bonus was swimming with a whaleshark, having a 40 min dive with a manta, and seeing my first seahorse !!
I would certainly not hesitate to recommend this operator.......

I had a day spare in Cape Town whilst travelling for work.
Carel picked me up from my hotel and took me EVERYWHERE! To see as much as I possibly could in the short space of time I had.
We went to see lions, cheetahs, chimpanzees, a giraffe sanctuary, a tour of the wine lands and when the weather changed for the worse he knew of great places to ride it out for an hour such as the cape brewing company!
Carel knew exactly what he was doing and nothing was a problem.
On the way back into Cape Town he swung a de-tour to take me up and see the view across cape town and lions head from table mountain.
A fantastic day out all thanks to Carel.
Couldn’t recommend him enough!

We had some great dives with Carel this past week. We were visiting our son in Muizenberg on holiday from the US and he suggested we go diving with Carel. He’s been diving with Carel for several years now and did his training with Dive Inn.
My 18 year old daughter recently received her certificate and was still a little unsure about diving. But Carel was very patient and encouraging with her. I wanted it to be a positive experience for her and it was.
We made a couple shore dives to get comfortable and then did some deeper reef dives by boat and swam with the seals which was a blast. Then went to a wreck off the coast. My daughter is excited about going on her next dive already.
Carel was very thorough and has everything you need. He knows so much about so much of the life in the ocean and pointed out many things we would have never seen.
We all had a great time and when I come back to Cape Town I’ll be diving with Carel!

I asked Carel from Dive Inn to arrange a Table Mountain and Cape Peninsula tour for me and my 3 friends from Australia for their first Cape Town experience.
Carel arranged everything beforehand - Abseiling from Table Mountain and all access tickets were done and we didn't had to spend any time in a queue.
His knowledge of Cape Town and the animal and plant kingdom is excellent and he turned a possible mundane short hike on Table Mountain into a fun learning experience. Also, he has amazing skills with an iPhone camera and took the most amazing group photos of us.
After Table Mountain we went for a beach picnic alongside some penguins in Simon's Town, after which we went to Cape Point where he showed us the local wildlife using the lesser known paths where no other tourists went. The hike up to the lighthouse had lots of stairs, but his stories he told during the hike made us forget about the stairs. The route back to Cape Town was spectacular, especially Chapman's Peak. The tour finished well in time for us to enjoy sundowner drinks watching the sun set into the ocean next to Table Mountain.
Thanks for this experience Carel! My friends said they will definitely return to Cape Town again...
