About twenty minutes or so off the road, not too strenuous. Beautiful vistas and a big payoff when you get to the Ugly Puddle - awesome!

I really liked the trail going up to this place. The crater itself probably isn't as spectacular as the other places in the area, but it's definitely worth seeing, mostly if you prefer more remote and less popular trails.

Well worth a stop on the way out to Landmannalaugar. The lake is a beautiful blue and the weather allowed for a bit of picture taking before the strong wind drove us back to the vehicle.

One word; Breath-taking. Amazing spot for a lunch or just photos. Can get extremely windy (and therefore; cold) though as it was when I was there, so bring clothes accordingly.

Although named "ugly puddle" this giant crater hosts a beautiful lake. A hike around the edge will take you roughly 1.5 hours. Great place for a pause west of Hekla.
