Claim to fame is its size, but it is empty, save the old water source, and paved with overly large and uneven rocks. The surrounding buildings are largely plain and uninteresting compared to many small town squares in Colombia.

We can during rainy season yet didn't get wet once. The square is a great place to relax. Have coffee. Have a meal or a beer

Not yet on the radar for foreign tourists, town offers a quiet walk into the past. Cobblestone main square is surrounded by stores, restaurants and bars as well as town cathedral. No hassles. Fine place to sit back and enjoy the quiet.

Be sure to come to Villa de Leyva during the quiet week days so that you get a sense of the town when it's not overrun with day-trippers from Bogota! Not all the shops and restaurants are open during the quiet times, but we ate...More

The square was filled by astronomers with giant telescopes on the w/e that we visited, and this activity gave some use for such a large cobbled area. the backdrop of hills is enchanting - and well worth a climb for a great view of the...More

Really large space with Spanish colonial flavour. To see. A nice church and full of restaurants. The space is airy without any touristic inconvenience
