Six of our family chose to meet at the old Abbey for a birthday picnic as we're all English Heritage members and it was almost equidistant from our 2 homes. Both parties still had to travel 1 and a 1/2 hours to get there.

A nice place to go out for a family picnic and to explore the old stones on a sunny day, the place is not crowded at any time. It's a NAtional Heritage place, so the parking and entrance are free for the members.
