Our canoe trip, in an interesting trimaran type wooden canoe, with a local guide and a ‘punter’ set off from Bekopaka and headed into the gorge of the Manambolo River. The scenic trip took in riverside rice planting, birdlife, stops at a couple of caves...More

Very fun place to canoe with guides along limestone cliffs and caves. Beautiful scenery with a feeling of going back in time (especially seeing the tomb on the cliff lines with skulls). Very peaceful. Creates a bit of a feeling of adventure. Would be ideal...More

We did the whole descend of the Manambolo River from Ankavadra until Bekopaka. We arranged the trip through Remote River Expeditions, which I highly recommend and have only the best to say. They took perfect care of us, arranged everything and could foresee any problems...More

We took the chance to experience with our guide Velu the trip in the canoes down the Manambolo gorge. Do take time to go it is a interesting and restful trip which we greatly enjoyed after two very full days climbing.

We enjoyed a 80-minute canoe ride on the Manambolo River. Stopped at 2 different caves where we walked in to see sparkly stalactites. Lovely way to spend an early morning; would have been hot in the afternoon.

Manambolo river trip is done for two days and half also, the same for the Tsiribihina river trip. But this is better than Tsiribihina, and more adventurous. To join this river, you travel at Tsiromandidy first, and buy all your supplies from there. Then, have...More

Manambolo River is an unique experience to do this. And, as for me, this is most interesting than Tsiribihina river. Just, it's quite difficult to join Ankavandra. And actually, it's not sure going there, with Dahalo. So, I would not recommend this without guide.

Our morning trip in a pirogue was relaxing and interesting. Visited a couple of caves to see the stalactites and stopped to see the open tombs high up on the cliffs. Plenty of bird life. Take your binoculars.

The small Tsingy includes an optional trip up the river gorge in a pirogue, where you have the chance to visit two caves and snap pictures of the wonderful scenery. It's worth the extra expense and time.

Travelling by canoe we paddled along the Manambolo River through the picturesque gorge, visiting a cave along the way to see the stalactites and stalagmites. There was plenty of birdlife along the banks including nesting egrets, Madagascar Pratincoles and Madagascar Fish Eagle. Definitely recommended.

Hello, For safety issue, I would not recommend doing the Manambolo on your own. This one need a real organisation. It's hot the insecurity there actually. That's why no more agencies or Tour Operator don't propose this. You... More

Hello, The major differences between the Manambolo and Tsiribihina river trips is that the first is more beautiful scenery and nature. Also, with its difficult accessibility, Manambolo is more wild, and adventure. Nature... More
