At the top of the hill is a castle, and a cemetery both are worth the visit. It’s been sympathetically restored and is a fantastic vantage point to espy eagles, vultures and hawks circling above. It’s a history lesson, plenty to see, explore, touch, marvel...More

We highly recommend making the up hill climb to the castle in Jimena de la Frontera. If the visitor center in the church just blow is open, stop first for some interesting history and information on the area. The views are magnificent especially on a...More

It's a bit of a steep climb from the car park jist below the castle but well worth the effort. We had vultures and buzzards circling above us as we wandered through the castle grounds and on a perfect November day it was so peaceful....More

Children loved it! The way up is hard as is up the hill, but good exercise after a day by the pool... and great views of the village from the top!

We have been here a few times and it never ceases to surprise me the history of this place and it's previous importance to various cultures. Some of what you will see is 8th century BC! It's a steep climb up through Jimena's beautiful cobbled...More

Perched right at the top of Jimena it is not a walk for the faint hearted! When your at the top the views are spectacular and the castle ruins interesting. Go early morning to avoid the heat.

Lovely walk from the main square up through steep cobbled streets (although longer more gradual walk available). Surprisingly good castle, with excellent steel walkways around the ruins. Majority of information points in Spanish (understandably), but if you find one with the English QR reader you...More

This castle is well preserved and excellently presented for visitors. The views are spectacular and the sight of kestrels, who clearly nest on the main tower, gathering food for their young was unique in our experience. Not to be missed.
