This is the first private house on the Audi tour which begins to give one a sense of life and ceremonies in this Roman town at the time everything stopped

Travelling up the Main Street From the port area you come to this house on the right hand side. It may not be the greatest building on the overall site, but it does feel like a home with its red pillars and hanging medallions. The...More

There are better buildings but early on in your audio tour you will stop here for the commentary. Plenty of information, but you would need the audio tour or guide to get the most out of it.

At one time a large house near the front of the town but there is not a lot to see now so you are likely to just take a glance in passing

Notable for the size of the building and the exquisite carving, for want of a better word, as pictured with customers being attended to. It's at the top end of the site and makes a handy resting place to linger awhile during your visit.

Another domus in the ancient city of Herculaneum... Plenty of original Roman artwork on display here as well as a pluvius to collect rainwater in the courtyard

Although the rooms aren't as complete as other buildings the grandure of the original is still evident with its columns and art work also access to what would have been a private garden. It was owned by some dignotory I believe.
