It's in a great community, rich in culture if you get a great guide. Visiting during the wet season is the best. Water volumes are normally high and it's a spectacular sight. You could go abseiling too :)

On our last day in the east we headed to kapchorwa high up in search of Mother Nature to Sipi falls just under an hour’s drive from Mbale town and it costs you 5 dollars for a guided tour to the top

A great experience, only one hour from Mbale. We hired a guide and did a three mile trek around the falls visiting villages and a coffee plantation.

Easiest way to get here is probably a taxi from Mbale (10k each dec 2017). You also need to get a guide but can also negotiate down to about half of what they say in the office, if you negotiate outside the office. Waterfalls are...More

This is a relatively easy hike (it's long, but I did it in regular tennis shoes), and goes to a series of three amazing falls. It can be modified using vehicles to make it a little shorter/easier, but allow 5-6 to reach all three falls...More
